I have checked the dump : it's fine, but it unfortunately use an RNC copylock track.

It can't be copied with powercopy nor MFMwarp of WWARP.

However, i guess that Galahad, codetapper or Stingray can help on this matter and make a Disk 1 free of RNC.

Meanwhile, i have zoned a CT-RAW image of SWOS disk 1, which works under winuae.

disk sent to codetapper for copylock removal

PS : here is your version reference : SWOS v1.52 (6/11/1996) CJ0611143733

It's the final release update disks.

I just read this message!

Thanks so much, I just downloaded the raw file to see if I am able to do anything with it but in any case I will wait for a Disk 1 free of RNC

@Arnie,dlfrsilver,DrBong

This morning I wrote the raw files on a blank floppy just to see when that disk fails.

All the raw files were in the ./Swos1 directory so I used the Kryoflux with the following command:

Code:
./dtc -d1 -w -fSwos1/*
The writing procedure went well:

Code:
Image name: Swos1/track
Image type: RAW
Image sides: 2
Image tracks: 83
Side 0: td: 1, cf: off, data: 80, unformatted: 3, nfr: 0
Side 1: td: 1, cf: off, data: 80, unformatted: 3, nfr: 0
Filter mode: side -wg: 3, crosstalk -wk: 3
Side mode: side -g: 2, td -k: 2, flip -wy: 0, flippy -y: 0
Write mode: bias -wb: 0, erase -we: 0

At this point I tried the floppy on my A500 to see if the game started. It started correctly and showed me the Sensible logo, then the "Goal-scoring Superstar Hero" song started and I listen to it until the end... everything was perfect and i received the prompt for "old disk 1".

I inserted the SWOS 95/96 disk 1 and after a few seconds I was aked to insert SWOS 96/97 upgrade disk 2 (the one that I previously created with the adf that Arnie sent to me a while ago).

My floppy drive started reading it and after a few seconds the game menu appeared. I was surprised since you guys told me that the game hanged at a certain point so I tried to play.

I started a career, bought a player, played a match. No problem at all. I played a few friendly matches with teams from different countries and the game worked flawlessly. Sometimes, for example before a match, the drive reads the floppy 2 and after a little of reading the floppy light turns off and the game goes on.

I mean, I am not angry at all about that. The game seems to work perfectly with the raw files Arnie sent me yesterday.

I wrote again the raw files on the original disk 1 and tested that disk as well. Everything perfect again... how is that possible? I mean, I always thought that with a working original floppy it would have been possible to make a copy with the kryoflux creating the raw files and writing them back on a blank floppy but it seemed that the protection of this floppy was too "strong" to do that.

Do you have any idea? Did I do something different from what you did?
Anyway, I am very happy so far and I can only say again a great thank you to all.

It seems that Hellfire have already "cracked" this release:

Sensible World of Soccer '96-'97 (1996-11-06)(Renegade)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr HF].zip
Sensible World of Soccer '96-'97 (1996-11-06)(Renegade)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr HF].zip

Once again though, they cocked up and the first file should be marked bad in TOSEC. The non 2Mb chip version is crippled as they wired the copylock incorrectly. They put in $cfd1f9cf instead of the correct $cfd1efe7. I've corrected their mistake, and that might be enough to make the game work on both configs. If not, it will need a proper look later! Check the zone...

I don't know what to say. I must have tried a dozen times to write the stream back to disk.

Ah well you live and learn. Glad you got it sorted.

I can throw the disks in the bin now and forget about them.

Hey Arnie, please don't throw them in the bin, I feel I am in debt to you since you bought them just for helping me... I am going to send you an email...

Well, if you've restored your original disk 1 with RNC copy-protection intact and it works perfectly.....then just thank the Amiga gods and enjoy playing SWOS 96/97 on your A500!

@Arnie, Denis
Good stuff guys! For your efforts, take a short black coffee voucher out of RCK's petty cash drawer!!

@Ian
Haha, not too surprised that HF stuffed the non-2MB chipram version......by 1996 everyone who was still serious about Amiga cracking 'n' leeching mostly had A1200s or A3/4000s. HF probably didn't have an OCS machine handy to test it on and just pushed the release out the door!

I'm not sure they are Interested.

I already raised a ticket for the A1200 dumps and got no reply.

Feel free to submit it yourself and when they send you the IPF's, e-mail them to me.
