CD32 nvram file...?

I know this has been touched on before but I can't get Winuae to create the save.nvr file. I believe this is used to save high-scores, etc on the CD32.

I've tried all the previous suggestions but no go. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but could someone perhaps post the file in the zone... or something.

Thanks v much

Hey Christian,

I haven't actually tried creating this myself but I believe all you should need to do in WinUAE is:

... Load (but don't start) your Amiga CD32 configuration.
... Go to Settings --> Hardware --> ROM.
... Click the ... next to Flash RAM File:.
... Select a desired path / location, type in nvram (or whatever you like) and click Save.
... Save your Amiga CD32 configuration and click Start.

WinUAE should now create the file needed

File is automatically created when NVRAM is accessed for the first time (normally by CD32 extended ROM, you do have real CD32 ROMs?)

Yeah, I'd read that but it's not being created.

I think the extended ROM I'm using is correct .. it's called

CD32 Extended-ROM rev 40.60 (1993)(Commodore)(CD32).rom

and is 512K in size.

Guess I'm missing something here ... sorry to be a pain. I even re-installed WinUAE (from the installer) to see if that helped. I'm also using the quick-start config option just to be safe.

That's the correct name and size

Is it recognised by WinUAE after doing a Rescan ROMs from the Settings --> Paths area?

Do you know what the CRC32 is? The one I'm using (which is officially recognised in WinUAE) has a CRC32 of 87746BE2

One way to find this out is to zip up the file using WinZip and look at the CRC column...

You have proper ROMs if you see (and hear) CD32 boot screen.

Thanks for the replys

Yes my CRC32 is the same.

And yes, the CD32 screen comes up fine. It also runs games using Daemon Tools but doesn't seem to be saving Hi-scores on the ones I've tested.

If I run the CD32 config without a CD in the drive, the logo and jingle comes up and then the key screen, which is kinda blank. I can also change language but that's about it.

So it's not the end of the world - was just wondering why the file isn't being created...

Hmmm, earlier today I tried creating the nvram file using WinUAE v1.0.0. It worked fine

Just tried creating it using WinUAE v1.3.2 + WinUAE v1.3.3 and it didn't work in either version

In a minute I'll post the brand new nvram file that was created in WinUAE v1.0.0 for you Christian...

Edit see attached... Extract file to desired location / path and then point your CD32 configuration to the nvram.nvr file

Very strange, it definitely didn't for me Toni (or Christian obviously)

I should mention that I always use the zipped version of WinUAE and not the installable version. Wouldn't think this should make a difference but thought I'd mention it anyway...

Haven't tried with your Xmas betas yet though, been too busy
