Hey kixs, slightly off-topic but would you mind taking a few photos of the 1084s from all angles? I started modelling it in 3D but I can't find any descent photos.

With all the poking with the cables A500 lost power... I mentioned the problem earlier.
bLAZER: I'll do that. You'll just have to wait till tomorrow evening. But as already said its the first model of 1084 without the 's'. The front looks like this one: |

Sorry to here that mate!
You'll just have to open her up and see if it's just the solder joints on the power connector. Hopefully it is 'n' it won't be too hard for you to fix. Keep us updated 'cause we want to know how you get on |

It may look cheap 'n' tacky, but I've got one of those and it does the job I expected it to do. It doesn't take a brain surgeon on how it works it's very simple and extremely easy to DIY one yourself that would do exactly the same job + there's no loss in quality whichever route you take, you know it's only RGB. So before you knock something you know nothing about, I suggest you try one first. Edit: I'm also trying to help and you're not Last edited by DH; 23 January 2009 at 13:26. |

The first cable is for C-64 use! Luminance (yellow), Chroma (red) and Audio (white). You can't use the aforementioned scart adapter with it, unless you convert the separate luma + chroma rca connections into a single s-video connection with a cable you solder yourself.
The 1084 has the three RCA connectors on it's back to accept the C-64 cable, as you can see the colours match: http://picasaweb.google.si/kixs97/Am...56171774070194 These Philips monitors have a reputation for bad solder joints, so if you get the flickering problem again, try and resolder the scart connector's pins inside the monitor like DemonHellraiser mentioned before. The connector is held to the PCB with only the solder joints + two flimsy plastic clips, so it has to bear the weight + twist of the scart cable almost only with the solder joints. What a thread.. Lots of back and forth action. Please research before posting, everyone. :-) Last edited by Jope; 24 January 2009 at 10:22. |

Cheers Jope
I think we all needed a boost in knowledge from these old style cables and monitors, it's confusing when we see cables that correspond to today's composite and audio ones. Anyway, I've actually had to re-solder vga socket joints on some older PC monitors 'cause they suffered from the same problem. Once again, thanks for your expert advice and knowledge |

Finally fixed the power problem with A500.
SCART cable had loose connectors but that didn't fixed it. After checking it with multimeter the green lead is broken somewhere. I decided to make a new softer and a bit longer cable. This one is less than a meter long and really hard. PS: I'm still buying A1200... but prices are quite insane these days I guess I might just gave up on buying it. |

The "S"-letter indicates that the monitor is equipped with 2 speakers.. S for Stereo u know.. 1084 without S is a monospeaker monitor..
