FS-UAE - Bezel Appreciation

Dunno how other FS-UAE users out here configure their Amigas but just thought I'd share my bezel and how I play my FS-UAE Amiga games. Its taken from a couple bezels out there along with a mixture of 80s stuff.

I mostly like these monitor bezels. Problem: You need a bigger monitor, e.g. 32 inch, or the viewable Amiga image area is too small.

Very good, congrats!

But, if I could throw an opinion... I think the "brightness" could be lowered a little, to make the blacks look less grey.

Thanks bud. Is that referring to the Amiga viewable screen, the background, or both? Tar.

To me, only the Amiga viewable screen would be enough.

@CCRider. Amended the screen brightness. Can you try this one? (Theme = Amiga_IIX)

I'm not sure I could tell the difference. Maybe it looked even a bit brighter.

I wonder if it may have something to do with me running it on macOS which, I believe, still doesn't have full shader support (a lot of those guest.r shaders doesn't work, for instance).

@CCRider - I too am running this on a Mac. It may have something to do with the kind of monitor/TV you have, what colour profile you are running, that kind of thing.

I run FS-UAE on a second monitor which is actually a TV set, which has a greater contrast ratio that my (professional) Dell monitor, so even the greys are quit dark.

@Jason H: your theme looks fantastic! I've merged your curvature shader with FS-UAE embedded "screenlines-nonlinear-blur-hsl" shader, in order to add some scrernline and some blur.
If anyone interested it's attached.

And here is a screen using your AMIGA_BEZEL_II theme and the modified shader (@1440p, click it to see it at full resolution):

I have a question though: is it normal that the image is always decentered to the left with a large border to the right?

It shouldn't be centered that way, no. Here are a couple of suggestions for settings (though subject to taste, these show a bit of overscan). Edit theme conf and - for theme with curvature shader:

Code:
[fs-uae]
scale_y = -0.72
scale_x = -0.55
align_y = 0.48
align_x = 0.5

[theme]
zoom = 42, 6, 704, 566
And without curvature, something like:

Code:
[fs-uae]
scale_y = -0.67
scale_x = -0.50
align_y = 0.48
align_x = 0.5

[theme]
zoom = 42, 6, 704, 566
By the way, I think I made it possible to have different "leds" based on disk inserted or not. So it should be possible to visualize a floppy being inserted by adding a led overlay with the drive door open...

Or this one (for curvature), I chose the zoom (crop) coordinates here to maximize the amount of border available while stile keeping the border symmetric around the common 640x512 area (should be easier to scale and align with this zoom setting, do play around with scale and align until you find your favorite setting...):

Code:
[fs-uae]
scale_y = -0.7
scale_x = -0.55
align_y = 0.5
align_x = 0.5

[theme]
zoom = 36, 12, 716, 560

@FrodeSolheim, thank you, I'll try your suggestions. About the [fs-uae] section, I was wondering: how that settings will conciliate with the Launcher itself? I mean, if I'd set integer scale on Launcher, for example, and scale_x and y with float values instead in the theme, which setting will be applied (they would conflict each other)?

I was thinking to use integer scale to align scanlines to actual pixels.

@Gardhul. Glad you like it! And that shader looks great - shame it doesn't run on my Mac though...

@FrodeSolheim, thank you, I've tried the overscan settings and it looks perfect!

@Jason H: This is a shame unfortunately I've not the skills to fix that shader for you...
