Unreleased SSI AD&D game "M" from the early 90s
My memory is very faint of this, but here it goes.
In one very old German computer game magazine (might have been Amiga Joker, ASM or PowerPlay) I once read a short article about an AD&D game that was in development at the time, I am fairly sure it's working title was "M". I think is was a small textbox next to the main article which might have been about SSI's Dark Sun: Shattered Lands or Wake of the Ravager game, so "M" would have been an early 90s DOS RPG. I suppose the game was never released and I don't know how far development was taken. Has anyone ever heard of this or is this all just a product of my imagination? In my mind I see the Dark Sun article with a small screenshot showing the desert of Dark Sun's world in glorious VGA resolution and next to it the "M" text. |

Yes, that's the one I remember. For non-German speakers: M was not an AD&D game, and it took place in a sci-fi universe where you had to rescue some diplomats with your party of four plus one robot on the planet "Monsoon". The article mentions that some of the monster prites were made from 3d renders which was a fairly new concept back then. Incredibly, it also says that the game was to be released at the end of the month (Sept. 1992) for MS-DOS and early next year for Amiga!
It would be cool to find out more about this game since it apparently wasn't shelved too early in development, seeing that they provided sprite graphics and even a screenshot. I can't seem to find the eMail adress of the designer. The designer's name is Rhonda Van now, btw. Last edited by Cherno; 23 September 2017 at 13:31. |

Nice to see someone else has a weird obsession with this mysterious game! Here's a link to some other Amiga magazines that previewed 'M', also known as 'Midnight Sons':
