Dragon's Tower:

- strange slowdowns when jumping
- enemy can stuck in main hero draining all of his energy
+ good graphics and animations of objects
+ not mindless (avoid enemies, get all keys, get axe, kill dragons with axe)

Entombed

- invisible, different traps (Rick Dangerous anyone?)
- very simple sounds
- little too slow
+ good graphics like from commercial game
+ good controls

Roger

Very good Atari STe only PD game is Roger. It is like Zool on Amiga with very good parallax scroll and fast gameplay. Watch me playing it on AmigaOS 4 in the February 2009 broadcast of http://www.amitopiatv.com/ (AmitopiaTV)

Are we allowed to include modern Atari releases in this thread?

There's a decent Chu Chu Rocket conversion and other games here: www.reservoir-gods.com/

And a really fun two player Zoop clone here: http://pooz.atari.org/

Oids in particular, I was completely jealous when The Games Machine came out with a review of that game. They did really large screenshots and the graphics looked great. Real shame that was never brought to the Amiga.

My memory is rubbish these days, I thought I'd played Super Sprint on my Amiga 500, but it must have been on my C64...

I didn't see anything on the net on the amiga version of Necron.

I can't see a reference to an amiga version in the snoofy ad
Anyway, I think the character is a likely candidate for the similarities thread: it looks like a mix of Pac-man and Super Mario.

Edit: If you look at the top right screenshot of Snoofy at Atari Legend, you can see (c) Atari Mag (I suppose it stands for Atari Mag[azine]), so I suppose it is not a fully commercial game. Either a PD or shareware game distributed with an issue of the magazine.

Edit2: Found that the game is in the Federation of free traders menu 2 compilation (available at Planetemu).
So, it is on a compilation with other cracked games, so it is probably not PD as I had thought.
Also a weird thing is that it is (c) Pressimage (the same company as the one in the advert). Therefore I have to wonder where Atari Legend got their screenshot from.

The ONLY decent version of Gauntlet on ANY 16bit computer (including the PC) was Gauntlet 1 for the Atari ST. It was one of the first ST games produced and it still manages to crap on Gauntlet 2 from a great height

Garrison looks like a PD game by comparison before anyone asks. Gauntlet 1 is the one game I really do miss not having on the Amiga but as it stands get an ST or a Sega Genesis/Megadrive and use Gauntlet 2 boxes to keep the doors open in your house (ST or Amiga version before you go mad).

Ignorance is bliss they say....not playing a decent version of any Gauntlet type game sadly is not bliss so I feel sorry for people who believe the hype and tow the stereotypical fanboy line

http://www.atarilegend.com/games/gam...p?game_id=1812 Gauntlet 1 for the ST.

http://www.mobygames.com/game/gauntlet-ii/screenshots Gauntlet 2 if you must look

What you won't notice is the screen was reduced by about 33% AND the characters are now about 50% the size they were before.Truly horrible game, and even worse as this is my favourite 2D game of all time probably. So I needed to buy a 520STM as soon as it came out (which I still own and use on the desk next to my original A1000)

The one game I was most jealous that was released on the ST but not on the Amiga was this unbelievable good role playing game from FTL, the makers of Dungeon Master.

The game was SUNDOG. I would have loved to play it 20 years ago.

Yes FTL's Sundog and Oids were sadly not ported to the Amiga...still those 2 and Gauntlet 1 kept my 520STm out of the box at least

Black Sect is now exclusively available translated into English for the Atari ST.
Amigans who cannot read French are SOL.

Losers.
I prefer the PC DOS version translated nearly complete into English (from the ST text files). It has much better VGA graphics.

Why? Emulation of a ST isnĀ“t a problem on the Amiga :-)
