I had a lot of originals but also managed to get games using other methods - can't quite recall what those methods were now but it didn't involve visiting my bank

Some games i just wanted to own in their original glorious boxes like Birds of Prey, Starglider 1- 2, Damocles,Wings, Stunt Car, F18, Fighter bomber and Midwinter - all 3d funny enough but then there was Elfmania as well which i wasn't all that happy i'd bought

Ah these were the best days.Spoilt for choice these days of course what with them being so old

The games I bought was Wings, Godfather och some mobster game. I got the other 200 from swapping and copying from my friends. I would have bought all of the games if I hadn't got a virus from that mobster game when I bought it. I lost all of my confidence in shops after that incident.

Of course you could buy Giana Sisters legally. But it was only 1-2 weeks on the shelves.

That was only in Germany wasnt it?
Still must have been one of the most copied games considering its lack of availability and the popularity of mario.

Well I didn't have much money when I was little, so I was only too happy when my dad found "a friend" who copied and sold games. He provided a disc that listed all the games he had (which was basically every amiga game in existence, no matter how obscure). At the time it was 2.50 guilders per disc, or 1 guilder if you provided the disc yourself. If one game didn't work, he would actually spend the time trying to figure out how to make it work for you; it took ages to get Wrath of the Demon working

My child years were spent happily buying Amiga Actions, playing the demos and compiling a list of games that I would want from the guy, until I have enough pocket money saved up to get at least 10 new games.

Of course today I am still as cheap: I refuse to buy games at full price unless they are so good I must have them at once. Which is not too often this century.

I never paid money to get the latest "backups". It was so easy to swap them with friends. But my first game was indeed an original, Starglider 2.

almost forgot, every time I was in Warsaw I run to the underground passage near central railway station to buy Amiga Action (news-stands in there where the only places in Poland I knew it could be bought ). Sometimes there were demo disks attached but mostly they were torn away by some wankers (they probably wanted to sell them separately)

I used to 'borrow' my friends backups, of which he had no original of anyway, and never give them back - he had better sources than me.

I was a scummy thief who stole from a scummy pirate.

I used to drunkenly scream binary into the floppy drive slot until the latest 0 day warez came up.

Forget 14.4s, all I needed was scrumpy.
