For managing TOSEC I find RomVault the better choice.
1. Use the the scripts in the TOSEC dat pack to create the folders and move the dats. 2. Copy them to DATRoot in RomVault folder (e.g \RomVault\DATRoot\Commodore). 3. Move everything to be scanned and fixed to RomVaults "ToSort" directory. In RomVault, after copying the dats to DATRoot, press "update dats" then right click the entry and set directory path for the TOSEC path and ToSort folder. ![]() Then all you have to do is follow the 3 steps: 1. Scan ROMs 2. Find Fixes. 3. Fix Roms. Couldn't be easier. ![]() |

Yeah romvault is quicker mainly due to it only scanning your unknown folder once instead of for every dat like clrmame. Having said that I do prefer clr as a scanner much more control over what's happeneing to my files.
If you use batch mode clr uses the same folder structure as romvault it's just a touch harder to configure Last edited by Ian; 29 July 2018 at 02:28. |

My preference is definitely ClrMAMEPro
![]() ...guess this is due to using it for 15 years now with MAME and TOSEC stuff. Yes it does take a little bit to understand exactly how to use, various options / features but once you know... very powerful ![]() Anyway, we are getting way off topic here guys... @TjLaZer; do some simple research into ROM renaming tools and if required, then start a new thread. |

Bah, decided it's best to started a new thread where this can be discussed until the cows come home instead of being under the TOSEC Release (2018-07-27) thread
![]() So, ones I know of are as follows: ...I'm sure there are others though but. |

Managing your files i.e. checking your current against the latest .DATs, working out what you're missing / fixing / renaming etc...
Try doing that manually without these programs; an absolute nightmare... good luck. |

Does it sort your files for you or something? I'm on Mac so there is no such program that I know of, so I really don't know what it's supposed to do.

Yes, it scans your files then renames / fixes if possible and also provides of list of "missing" / "have" so you know what you need to find in order to have a full set again.
There's no way I couldn't keep my MAME ROMs and Amiga files up-to-date without ClrMAMEPro. I believe you can use ClrMAMEPro on a MAC and possibly some of the other ROM management programs listed in the thread. |
