What sound card (zorro slot) is the best ??

I'm wondering what Zorro slot based sound card is the best ??

For instance, is the Toccata card any good ??

Yes, it's a good card

The Prelude ZII is also very good, have two of them and a Toccata...they even work in Morphos

Delfina is the best sound card for the Amiga.

The Flipper was supposed to be the best version with Zorro II, clockport and PCI interfaces.

http://ami.ga/products/delfina_e.htm

Unfortunately the flipper bit was never released, so it is clockport only and quite crap.

Is the Toccata better than the Sunrize AD516 (some ppl tend to think the latter is great)?

Someone told me the sound quality is better (I do not have a AD516), but the AD516 has an SMPTE timing thing or something.

Toccata does sound better than the Concierto though.

I looked at the specs for the Toccata card and only see audio in plugs... does it output audio through the standard audio plugs on the amiga ??

Toccata has 3 stereo inputs, 1 mic input and 1 stereo out. You use a stereo 6.3mm to rca plug adapter for the big holes.

You can put the amiga's audio output into one of its inputs via cables which can then be played to its output. Not all of its inputs can do this without its software driver though (i.e. for games without workbench).

The repulse does seem interesting though.

I've got an AD516. It's designed for music stuff specifically, and does indeed have a SMPTE port on it. It's good, but not very usable outside of it's own software.

I have an old Crystal soundcard in ISA flavour, is this any use to anyone here? I gave an old ISA Soundblaster Pro to Zetr0 on here and thought this may be of use to someone else. Does anyone want it?

I have 2 AD516's, which can be combined and used as a 4 track recorder, and it's not good, it's excellent, it's own software is pretty complete, and I believe there was an AHI (possibly commercial) module for it. Makes any soundblaster, even their current junk, sound like the 8-bit crap it is descended from. Even though it was a high-cost-for-anything Amiga Zorro card, there was a reason it cost US $1500 when good clone cards were $500.

AD516 still fetch good prices on the eBay. I had one once but Mr Blom refused to loan my card to make an AHI module (before it was supported by AHI) for it so I sold it (for less I knew it was worth)
