Ambermoon is one of the best RPG ever done on any platform.
Good to hear this... after all, maybe someday fully debugged version of Ambermoon will exist

Oh, WHDload version of Amermoon would be very interesting thing :-)
Especially with all possible bugfixes and patches, really ;-)
Shame Albion for Amiga was never released.
Wouldn't it be possible to play it on Amiga with pc emulation software..?! ;-)

Sorry, no chance. Play it with Dosbox, it's a worthy follower of the amber saga.

Well, Ambermoon doesn't require WHD however: it starts from HD and quits back to WB by itself. No need for an "HD installer"...

Well, for many Amiga gamers, I think it would be easier to get into Ambermoon by simply finding it from KG:s WHD packs! :-D
ANd even more quicker installation that way :-)

I will provide a preinstalled ZIP on The Thalion Webshrine if you think it would help? I mean if you are smart enough to find and install WHDload you are smart enough to install Ambermoon to hard drive!

For more "exotic" Amiga systems, pre-installed whd version would propably be best option, because of it's many different configuration possibilities..

i dont even particularly know the game , but could see it being useful for applying and maintaining all known fixes, allowing data-caching of files for reduced access time, *guarentted* stability across variously colourful configurations of amigas, "proper" quitkey and er... uniform speed across all cpus? (depending on how the waits are done dictates necessity)

i remember trying to install this game to run in ram for PSPUAE users before, and it kept breaking. doing such with whdload is -much- easier!

There are non, at least not yet.

Ambermoon already does that itself.

Yeah right, like WHDload offers that. Each game with WHDload is as good as the slave that was written for it.

"proper" quitkey
Is right mouse, click on sleep, click on quit too difficult? It is a proper quit, it returns you to workbench correctly!

Ambermoon already does that for 68000 through to 68060

PSPUAE (0.71) still doesnt have hard drive emulation so WHDLoad would be useless! Surely it would be better to fix the emulator, than patch the game?!?

ok alexh, we get the point -you- see no need for it, yet other people do.

there were a load listed above. there's nothing to stop a whdload slave author applying those through the slave itself on their own. it's hardly as if any of the patches are 'official' - espeically given that most are largely only spelling mistakes.

with the same flexibility of re-placement in memory as whdload allows? i am playing devil's advocate here, but can you really be absolutely sure it's doing it 100% for every file?

with you there to test it, since you claim such higher knowledge of the game, i'm sure it would be fine. particualrly since you state it already works on every amiga setup ever devised. (which no offence, i doubt)

yes, obviously that's too difficult. I'd like to know its clearing memory etc properly too.

wrong. whdload is not useless to PSPUAE - far from it. If you read again what i posted (and you quoted) you will see i mention installing whdload games in ram:. This technique has been successfully applied with hundreds of whdload games on PSPUAE, allowing massively reduced loading times on the emulator, even without the added HD support, simply by save-stating the game once the WHD version has been installed to ram from ADF. The excellent internal bug-fixes, timing corrections etc offered by WHDload have also aided compatibility with the emulator greatly. have a look on the pspuae website if you want more info.

i really find it difficult to understand such an objection to the want for a whdload install, but hey, i'm not even interested in the game, i just think it would be useful to everyone else.

Just because it is a waste of time compared to other non-hard drive installable games.

i do see what you mean, but by the sounds of it, it would be a 5 minute job to an experienced slave author!

and i like the idea of maintaining bug-fixes / patches through whdload.... since even i could add those to a slave source

Did they even start the Amberworld project ? I don't think so. If you want a "successor" of Ambermoon, then the only one I know of is Albion (but it's PC program).
