Done properly, you can have an updated kickstart for cd32 too, with cd drive working, it's been done before.

What kind of icon.library is included in OS 3.1.4? Is there still a benefit in using PeterK's excellent icon.library replacement or is the new library similar in functionality and speed?

i had too google for hyperion website to reach os 3.1.4 offer...

btw. is it possible to purchase os3.1.4 for all systems as bundle?
because 5x €29,95 makes ~€150, which is very expensive...

P&P to Austria was too expensive.

It should be working now.

You'd have to ask the person who originally posted that; not me.

...but my guess would be that it wasn't copied / pasted correctly into the post.

does purchase also include hyperion roms and rom files for emulation?
or are there only workbench disks included?

Great!!
And this (if it is what I think it is) is the one feature I would LOVE to have:
Quote:
An optional upgradeable intuition.library provides off-screen dragging of windows for native and P96 RTG screens.
Worth the price of admission right there.. ;-)

Now I just have to decide if I want to go digital (and use the maprom in my ACA) or get a real ROM chip...

Happy Day!!!

Sorry, no CD32 version

The (for lack of a better word) "desktop" version is based upon code which we could build from source code, which we could review and which we could test on real hardware available to us (including the hardware which the testers had available).

We were unable to build the CD32 code from the original source code (to the best of my knowledge this has never been done since 1994) and we lacked test hardware, in particular the varied CD32 add-ons.

While this sounds like the most handwringingly embarrassing excuse ever, we were concerned we'd make a mess of a CD32 ROM update in the context of this project and would have to suffer the consequences. Sorry, this was a trade-off between covering all Amiga hardware which can run AmigaOS 3.x and not cutting corners during code review and testing.

In any case, the build process would have to be retooled because of the larger ROM (Commodore did it, and so could we). If there's going to be a follow-up project to AmigaOS 3.1.4 we would need more hardware testers to help us with the CD32, some reliable documentation on the CD32 hardware, and feedback on what needs attention.

The icon.library is an updated version of the one which shipped with the AmigaOS 3.9 update. There are bug fixes included which, for example, yield better compatibility with software such as DirOpus.

We did not retrofit features of later icon.library versions. The shipping icon.library is on disk, not in ROM (as with OS 3.5/3.9) and if anything, we were somewhat in danger of running out of disk space (I personally blame the guy who wrote the new "Disk Doctor").

Can you guys provide .PAT and .RTB files for the A1200 ROM so we can test using skick with this on an expanded CD32? It might just work, even if no CD drive support is given.

Will there be new RKMs and an NDK (SDK) to go with it?

While it would be very nice with books, I can live with it in electronic form.

It would certainly complete the product, but I don't see it happening That ship seems to have sailed so long ago that the harbour is by now silted and shallow...

The "current" AmigaOS 3.9 NDK is still relevant, though, including header files and documentation.

I would not mind if the "Amiga Developer CD 2.1" were freely available, with the blessing of the copyright holders. It's the most comprehensive collection of this material.

It would really be a nice touch to have the RKMs. I wonder if the source for them still exists in machine readable form?

If yes, it would be possible to put them together again in some electronic format(s). Actually doing significant updates to them can wait, just getting the harbour rebuilt is a good first step. We can make the ships sail again later...
