Wings of Fury, can't use guns?

After a week of this very 'difficult' game, I've discovered I should be able to shoot bullets from the plane using quick button presses. I only get bombs no matter what I do.

I've tried WHDLoad 18 as well as 17.2 and the problem is the same. Could someone test this for me an confirm the problem? http://whdownload.com/games/Pack-W-2007-01-30/WingsOfFury_v1.0.zip

I'm waiting on a fix for my machine so I can use the floppy again but it's taking a while.

Thanks s2325, I had seen that. It seems that my joystick is the problem. I dug up another one (which I wasn't sure worked) and I can get machine guns. I can drop bombs (same fire button) and have no issue with other games so I find it really strange.

So I just need to figure out what is wrong with my beloved Megastar SV-133

Maybe a joystick tester will expose some detail.

Is it with autofire switch?

s2325, thank you That was the problem. There are two switches on the bottom for
-left or right handed
-CPC or 464 mode

But there is also one on the back side for autofire. I thought autofire meant it fired all of the time, so I thought it was off. But I'm guessing now it just does it when you press the fire button.

I'm very happy. That was a lot of work trying different versions of WHDLoad, different slaves, whdload.prefs changes. All the wrong places to look
