A600 Motherboard tray thingy....

Hello

Forum noob...

I was was wondering if anyone could help. I've just resurrected my old Amiga 600. Had it recapped, bought a new power supply for it and added a CF reader. My next stage of the project is cosmetic... I'm looking for the motherboard metal tray.. I'm not sure what it is called. The tray the motherboard sits in.. it also provides a surround (a bit rusty in my case) for the rear ports.

Does anyone know where I can get one and erm what they're called?

Many thanks and Cheers

I can’t help with a new shield, but I made the ones in my 1200 and 500 look pretty good by rubbing the rust down then spraying with primer followed by silver alloy wheel paint.

In a similar position with an A600, but the metal edges overlap so maybe I have to bend then spray and bend back risking cracking paint?

How did you deal with it?

OP: I don't have a spare but "amiga metal shield" is the sort of thing you want to search for.

Are they actually required though? I know you want one to complete but I think many people just don't bother with the topside, bottom may be optional too.

I bent them back to get rid of any major rust then put back as they were then just sprayed over the overlapping bit (I mainly did it to get rid of the unsightly rust from the bits visible around the ports).

You can see the results on my A500 in my post here:

The top bit of shield is optional (and in fact missing on most A600s) but the bottom one is what the motherboard screws into via the threaded bolts next to the ports, it would be loose otherwise.

Hello and thanks for the replies.

Funny thing is I was browsing for some other parts and saw them advertised for sale on a site... can I remember the site name? No! Can I find the site in my browser history? No!

I do remember making a mental reminder to check them out... But for some reason or another I didn't.....

I'm not even sure what the part is called so I would be able to narrow down the search terms.

I've checked the usual suspects and the nearest I can find is:

https://amigastore.eu/en/684-insulat...for-amiga.html

Sent them a message but haven't heard anything back yet

Cheers

Not quite/exactly the same, but you can get a replacement back panel:

It's possible that's all you need? The single screw at the front would stabilise the m/b and the backplate would keep it in line.

This is direct replacement for aging and rusty original bottom Amiga 600 EMI shielding. Compact, lightweight, but rock solid. Provides maximum support for all d-sub rear connectors and greatly reduces risk of them beeing torn off the mainboard.
