Resize an existing Bootable HDF

My existing WB3.9 HDF is 50MB and is almost full. Can the Hardfile be resized to 60MB safely or is it better to just create a new Bootable 75MB HDF and copy the contents across.

There are no utilities that can resize Amiga filesystems. And even if there were, it would not be that useful without supporting at least FFS, PFS and SFS filesystems.

Create new hdf and copy all files, "copy from: to: all clone quiet" does it quickly, copies also protection flags and comments.

Lallafa's amitools can do this, and many other useful things, for OFS and FFS partitions:

Technically it moves the contents from one HDF over to a larger newly created HDF with a single command, but practically it's like resizing and keeping a backup. And you get free defragmentation.

Don't do this. Use 2000 MB VHD instead. Then you are done once and for all. VHD files don't take much space on your Windows HDD and grow dynamically when needed (up to the space you specify, e.g. 2000 MB).

VHD is called "dynamic HDF" in the HDF creation panel.

Thanks Thomas, I was thinking about the Dynamic Volume switch I'll try that.
I'm so used to smaller boot partitions with WB 1.3 to WB 3.1 you never really needed more room than 50MB for older Amiga OS installs.
