Donations - My friend's accident

Hi,

this isn't entirely related to my whdload site but it's personal to me and I don't want it sitting in OT in case it misses out on being viewed by anyone.

I have a very close friend called Mike who has recently been involved in a motorcross accident. He's been in a few knocks and scrapes before, but unfortunately this time he broke the 5th vertebrae in his back. He's currently paralised from the chest down but there is hope that he will make a 100% recovery, although obviously this will take a lot of effort, and a lot of patience.

At the moment he's in a specialist spinal ward and is looking to leave the hospital just before christmas (21st Dec). But unfortunately, his rehab from then on is an expensive process. I have setup this donations page (as simple as it is) to try and raise a bit of money to put towards these costs.

If you have used any of my whdload packs/installs or benefited from any of my EXTREMELY wise words then please consider donating.

I'm not expecting anybody to donate and the site is merely there if people want to donate, so please don't think I am demanding money for my work because that is the last thing I want to do.

Thanks for your time!

EDIT: Link removed, thanks for everyone that helped out.

Final total - £500.00 GBP

I'm sad to hear this story, KG. Hopefully your friend fully recover. I'm mostly short on money, but just donated 5 bucks via PayPal.

Thanks for your kind words mate, and thanks for the donation.

But PLEASE do not apologise for donating little. Any amount at all is hugely appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hi,

Made a 20 quid donation.
Considering how I have raped your WHDLoad packs in the past / current, this is the least I can do.

Tell your mate that I hope he gets well soon and to loose the f(*&king bike. Too many people I know have died due to those fscking things....

i don't know anything about the uk health system but how is it possible that he has to assume most of the costs of his rehab? anyways i hope your mate fully recovers and thanks again for your dedication to this community...

In the Uk the NHS only covers imediate free A&E services, once a client is released into the community primary care is expected to be bourne by the clients family, their GP Health centre may provide District nurse visits ..however many of these are NOW tendered out to private community carrer services that require pre-payment.

Any specialist equipment needed to improve the clients mobility is resourced through social servuices community Occupational therapists who carry out an inspection ..BUT they only pass on needs to finacialy based providers.

Only after a period of weeks would any finacial assistance be offered for basic needs if the client can qualify via a means tested scoring system.

While there are charitable organisations who can assist their current resources are overburdened by the increasing number of community care cases that they are expected to handle.

In the UK accidentaly incurred injuries are expected to finacialy balanced by individual innsurrances & savings policies ....the FREE health service can no longer bear more than fractional responsiblity in long term client help

Any point that is not clear I am most happy to indepth qualify

Thank you SO much for explaining that Woody, I just started writing something but I couldn't have written it better myself

I hope that clears it up, if not I'm sure Woody will take on anything you have to ask

Many thanks to all who have contributed so far, the total stands at £100 which is more than I could have hoped for, thank you so, so much.

Say no more mate. My wife and I have spent hours of quality gaming thanks to you, and we would have gladly paid for the services you have offered us, even if there wasn't a good cause involved.

We just made a donation (using my wife's account, Hariklia L...).

Cheers everyone. You're GREAT!

I've updated the total at the top, I really did never expect so much, thank you VERY much.

I've also changed the link as I've moved the donation page.

EDIT: The total has increased to £186.63 GBP, thanks so much everyone.
