I had never seen a video like that . It must be great to restore them and find the parts. I love restoring things too (clocks, telephones, furnitures and I mounted my 72's beetle engine piece by piece).
I wonder who buys a 70 tons tank, though . Well, it doesn't matter. Returning to the topic... buy a Cf HD. |

Yes, there are. I've used one in the past. 8Gb is perfect.

I should say no. The seller calls it SSD, but I bet that's a regular flash memory without any special SSD controller, cells etc. |

I use these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/KingSpec-Sol.../dp/B0049AAMJ6 (You can find them on eBay too) I had a 8gb one in my A1200 on the FastATA, since moved back to CF as I sold the FastATA so need for SSD speeds. I have a 16gb one in my Micro AmigaOne running OS4.1 flawlessly for over 2 years now. |

So can I be forgiven for not crushing my A1200 under the track of a T72 Russian tank?
(AN aside) BTW Retrofan... you will be amazed at how many Canadians, Americans, Ozzies, NewZealanders, buy tanks from the firm I work for. Ozzies are worse, because after they been restored, they take them apart to blast across their counrtyside like open top vehicles (convertables) by removing the turret... Heat and and all that... they are mad as hatters...that Cromwell 6 in vid is worth quarter of a mill GBP... Rich Ozzies would tear it to pieces in no time after all the work we did. No, no, no. You have to try that.. but with your old HD Edit: I think Novacoder uses the same ones as Fitzsteve. They are more expensive than mine though, and mine just plugs in. |

This is the one I had a link sent to me by a friend, but ignore size.... can be in 32gb..
8 gb CF is no good... If you could see the amount of games I have in my place, your wife would divorce you... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kingspec-6...45646876&rt=nc |

But I see now you are using also a Fast ATA. I would use a Cf in your case. I had problems with my linked SSD HD and the Fast ATA.
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=67327 Edit: What Fast ATA do you have? MKIV seems more stable than my old MKII. Last edited by Retrofan; 27 March 2014 at 00:04. |

I disagree, for this size storage SSD would be the way to go.
Do you really need 64gb of storage on your Amiga though? I struggle to fill 16gb and I have all the WHDLoad pack, many emulator's + roms packs, Amiga CD games, mod files, Doom+Wads/Quake/etc. |

Have you tried SSD with a Fast ATA, Fitzsteve? What revision?
Edit: The Fast ATA (edit: surely depending on revisions) gives problems with some HD's that should work without problems. I'm actually running an Hitachi ATA/Ide 80Gb Hd with my Fast ATA MKII, but it likes to give problems to start, so I have to move the connections to make it boot (don't know why), that's why I'm also thinking in changing the HD. Edit: Well, my MKII is a bit "patched" because of problems in the past, so... Last edited by Retrofan; 27 March 2014 at 00:37. |

I only can tell you what I know for my own. Fast ATA MKIV and whatever size of Cf 's works perfectly (tried till 32Gb). I can't tell more from my experience. Fitzsteve has surely tried more HD's with it.

I use a FastATA mk IV with a IDE to SD adapter and 32GB SDHC card:
Zero problems with it (once I figured out how to correctly setup the FastATA...). |

I really don't understand the need of using a 32/64 GB SSD instead of a 32/64 GB Compact Flash.
The speed of modern CFs is absolutely sufficient for Amiga purposes . SSD speed (we're talking about some hundreds of MB/sec.) is really too much and not fully (even not partially) used in an Amiga. Furthermore, the Amiga OS doesn't require so many read/write cycles as modern PC OSes, so IMHO a CF is the way to go (you don't need a sophysticated memory controller as those included in SSDs). |
