Don't really know where to put this one...

This weekend I've been doing a whole $#!+ load of reading and learning. I have seen a few post pointing users to the Zone to get things they needed. I click it and got this

"
Claw22000, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."
I was wondering why and what I must do to gain access to this obviously vital Amiga goodies location.

Thanks

@claw
I know it's a bit of a bore, but as a new user, when you first signed up you were invited to read the rules etc. I know jumping straight onto the forum is what most people do, but these rules and help pages are there for a reason, so new users, like yourself, don't ask the same question again and again etc. You cant believe how many times this question has been asked in the last 6 months

@Any Mod
I'm wondering if the rules and a set of basic help files should be e-mailed to the person along with their confirmation link. Just a thought, it may stop the board from filling up with 'How do I access the zone' questions

IT IS ALREADY IN THERE!!!
I don't know who said it (not Graham), but it's already part of the registration process. There is also a sticky thread in the 'New to Emulation or Amiga scene' forum I guess it's just that nobody ever enters 'How do I get access to the zone' in the search here...

So why don't you create yourself an alternative account and check it out?

So, does that awfully long 1min break of the connection to the EAB server means it has been added?

BAck to the question, is there a special reason why the user has to activate it the way it is now. Or would it not be better to have it open for resitered users, without any special buttons to click.

Or is it like it is now because of gogle,yahou spiders, that search and archive this site!

Actually it'd be interesting to know why it isn't automatically enabled when you register. I'm sure catching out the people who don't read the forum rules (i.e. all of them ) must be a part of the reason though

Haha you got me your imperialist pigs. I normally don't read them because I'm the peaceable sort. I generally try to no cause waves in the community and offer help when I'm able. In most forums I don't have problems. But I do deserve a little flamage for the obviously idiotic question of WTF I don't get the ZONE WHY NOT!

If there was a poll how many do read the registration emails, or bother to read any joining T&Cs. I wouldn't be suprised if hardly anyone. I think it is more been there done that, get it over and done with fast as possible.

Its not RCKs fault, it is just the way people join forums, which is a boring process. Maybe a highlighted easy to spot registration pm with the title 'How To Access The Zone' or similar. Registration complete user logs in with email url, first page is taken to is the pm inbox.

Cheers to that its St. Patty's day here. I know only the US celebrates it as a drinking event ... Anyway I can see that would be a problem. Damn them and there liberal ways of controlling people and removing freedom. What are you gonna do. Well back to showing off my Miggy. Lovin it.
