Direct3D Problem
I've got a problem with WinUAE 3.1.0 in that when I start the emulation, a window appears saying:

I have just reinstalled my Windows 7 64-bit after numerous problems with Aero ever since I updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest ones, but now this problem is occurring when my DirectX drivers (I have DirectX 11) are certified. Please advise. |

Search the Microsoft site for dxwebsetup, one the search results should point to the download place for DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime, that's what you need.
If the installation gives you an error, search for directx redistributable. This will give you the complete package. |

Alternatively (if you don't feel like altering your DirectX config), you can select "Miscellaneous" in the "Host" config list, then select DirectDraw instead of Direct3D as Graphics API. Then normally you don't need anything changed in your DX config.

is there currently no way to get it working in win 10 without this error and direct x9 install with direct 3d ?. I hear about this problem on a windows 10 tablet. maybe it can not install directx 9 correct, or trash some direct x 11 files . is it not easy possible to change to directx >9 ?

Just install the DX9 redistributable. Every DX9 game installs it. It does not overwrite anything, it only adds missing DLLs.
Exact same installation was required since Windows Vista (and then 7, 8, 8.1 and 10), this is nothing new. DX11 support may happen someday. (But there is not much point) |

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=8109 Put it in a folder and decompress all the files and then run DXSETUP.EXE to make sure it fully installs (dxwebsetup.exe simply runs and quits as soon as it detects > dx9.0c is installed with the message that you "don't need" it because you have a newer version installed...) YMMV--Toni doesn't get that message with dxwebsetup.exe, but I do... (Hence, when I run DXSETUP.EXE I can actually see 9.0c installing, file by file.) Anyone who enjoys older games should have this version of d3d installed alongside d3d11/12. DXsetup.png is what you want to see when installing dx9.0c; DXweb.png is what you do *not* want to see when installing... |
