Wink Just found a new interest

First post, so hi to everyone and a happy new year,

Here goes…. the other day I decided to have a clear out in the loft, and came across my old Amiga 500, with a stack of games (not originals) from about 20 odd years ago, I started it up and it seems to be ok,

I was debating with the wife whether I should throw it out or not, when she reminded me of how much fun we used to have playing Dynablaster, I checked through the games and found it, but sadly no joysticks, I think I sold them with the other Amiga I had,
So I started searching sites for joysticks Inc on eBay, but with no joy (no pun intended) my search led me to this site, so I read a few post’s and was amazed at what the machine could do even today,

I’m not going to pretend I’ve got the first clue about computers of any kind, or even if I’ll do anything except play a few old games on it, but I feel its something I could get into with a bit of help, but firstly and more importantly I need to get a couple of joysticks to get of the ground at least, I’m gonna scout through the post’s etc to pick up what info I can,

Regards to all…Steve....

Welcome to EAB!

@steve88

Hello there,

Welcome to the EAB, theres plenty of much retr0-mischief going on around here, so steal some time, kickback and enjoy the chocolate coated yummyness of retro-dom that this fair board offers.

now joysticks joypads are easy to come by, when you know where to look so
a little round up of fleabay returns the following

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Zip-Stick-joys...QQcmdZViewItem

another (although a little pricey for second hand)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Zipstik-Joysti...sid=p1638.m118

heres a couple of shops to keep in mind
www.amigakit.com and www.vesalia.de

both have a good range of products to choose from, so give them a lookie

on another note, you can use Sega Megadrive joypads as an alternative to joysticks, also to note some times on eBay are adapters so you can use Playstation controllers on your Amiga

thanks for the info chaps, I’ll give the shops a try first, I’m not fussed if the joysticks are second hand or new, as long as I can still get hold of a couple, it’ll be good to get back on it again....

Regards…..Steve

My sega gamepad had 2 buttons, both worked in Amiga games where 2 button support were avaiable, like Mortal Kombat 2.

It's a good job Dyna Blaster is a copy, because if you had the original you'd need the 4 player joystick adapter as well or it wouldn't be playable!

You can still play Dynablaster with Amiga emulator or MS-DOS version.

Forget the boot-sale, there’s no way I’m getting up early on a weekend, not after getting up at 6.30 for work every morning, I used to have a 4 player adapter but I think that went with the one I sold, along with the joysticks, (big mistake obviously)

I ‘m also struggling with the technical jargon such as “Amiga emulator or MS-DOS version” since using the Amiga over 20 years ago I’ve only been using the pc for a short while for basic stuff, but I will be going through post to see if I can pick things up (but don’t hold your breath)

Regards…Steve

yep 6:30 is way to early in the morning, prob thinking of going bed by then
most sales go on to 12ish though, get there just after 11ish when they starting to pack up, thats when you can get some good deals. though havent see any ami stuff for a while. my last best buy was a dream cast for £5 hehheheh

To be honest, I just want to be able to play dynablaster anyway I can, either on the Amiga or on the pc, I’m sure there’s a way to do it but I don’t know how,

If I can get it to pc I can get the joysticks for it, I could be spending hours traipsing around boot-sales with no guarantee of finding anything, moneys not an issue, within reason, I don’t mind paying for something as long as I can get hold of it, or even understand it, even if it means paying someone with the know how to come round and download/set up what’s needed

Regards….Steve

I did read it graham, and where it says “How do I Install and setup WinUAE?1. Download latest WinUAE executable (Setup program) from www.winuae.net” I clicked on www.winuae.net and kept on getting “page cannot be displayed”

But apart from that it still doesn’t make sense to me, give me something mechanical and I’ll rip it to bits, but anything computer technical and it will rip me to bits,

I know some people find this sort of thing easy, but I don’t, I need things explained in idiot mode, I know it’s a pain but it cant be helped,

But thanks for the link anyway graham

Hi Twizzle, Im looking for something similar to these Competition Pro Joystick (Amiga/C64) they look the type that I used to play with, I couldnt get on with the others, at least not for Dynablaster,
