CPU/Chipset setting in PSPUAE can change performace quite dramatically. It depends what the game is, but i'm sure it could make Indy Heat playable.

SWOS, i have never got to run well. Supercars II i think can (especially on FAME/C core iirc)

I have never tried this so I have no idea really, not even sure if you can use hdf's or a folder. But if you can, has anyone tried to install workbench with whdload games on the PSP?

you can install WHDload games into RAM: but there is no HD support.

unfortunately, a lot of the savestates FOL & I set up to run from whdload games from RAM: were lost in the pspuae.com server problems - we will be trying to get them available again though. (although i'd rather just have HD support tbh)

Would'nt we all, . If you enable HDD support, it just gets locked in a reset loop.

Im sure this is down to the bugs in E-UAE WIP3. I have never been able to get WIP4 to compile, which is supposed to fix alot of bugs. I could never workout the menu arrays. Im sure if someone explained them to me, I would understand, but as it is, im going round in circles.

Maybe once I get server sorted, I can plow head into the code again, like I used to. I learnt alot then forgot alot as I had'nt tpuched the code properly in almost a year.

Not sure that is the fastest possible emulator as it is not a Kernel level one? But if it is fast enough, hey!

Hey

I am a bit of an idiot when it comes to tech stuff. But I have played a lot of snes games with the one I uploaded and never had any speed issues at all. What is a kernel level based one?

Thanks

AFAIK there are two types of PSP application, kernel mode and user mode. On some PSP's the firmware hacks only give access to user mode and so the applications have to be written specifically in this way.

Now it was my understanding that applications written for kernel mode could be written to be faster than those written exclusively for user mode (no RAM copying).

But psp is no longer my area of expertise as I only picked mine up for the first time in over two years this week.

I would'nt have said it gives you more speed, Kernel mode, just gives you greater access to almost all functions. Where as user mode only gives you access to functions available to the exploit / game.

Ok, reading a little it seems the PSP's CPUs have no TLB (MMU) and so there would be very little speed penalty in user mode over kernel mode.

Traditionally programs running in user mode require data to be copied to linear memory before the hardware can use it. These copies are big speed penalties.

I sometimes wonder why no-one in the Wiz/Cannoo/Pandora scene bothers to try and port PSPUAE to the platform instead of dragging out yet another quick hack job of UAE4ALL like with every other platform. The source is available, right?

Thinking about it, it would be nice if the Wiz had a decent Atari ST emulator also. That CaSTaway emu is bollocks, to be frank.

Castaway aint that bad. It just lacks options.

Whats UAE4ALL like on the Wiz?
Is the Wiz clocked at 555Mhz or overclocked to 900Mhz?
