Lots of games that were artificially hampered by being built for OCS/ECS only. For example, Syndicate.

There was also an all-AGA version of Super Skidmarks in the works that looked incredible but sadly never made it out... That would be nice to see.

I fully agree. I tested the demo for the Super Skidmarks AGA on a friend's A1200 (had the A500 and CD32 myself) and was blown away!

Adventures were one of the most annoying genres that were converted to the Amiga after AGA came out, bar a handful of games the rest were simply made for the OCS because of the size of the market when you knew damn well the AGA version could have looked so much better

FOTAQ - 1995
Goblins 3 - 1994
Innocent Until Caught - 1994
BASS - 1994
IJ FOA - 1993
Gobliins 2 - 1993

Etc

You mean the FM-Towns version. But yes, PC VGA adventure ports in 256 colors would be nice.

While there are some AGA adventures, there is no RPGs except Evil's Doom.
So i think RPGs are even more scarce for AGA. Good that thanks to CFOU! there are AGA enhanced both Beholders.

I'd have liked to see a proper AGA Turrican game. Not any of the originals, let it have been Turrican 4.

Thinking of it: since AGA screens use 8 bitplanes, I suppose that graphic adventures suffer floppy disk space issues.

Am I wrong?

You can get shitloads of graphics unto a single disk by compressing.

It's not a problem these days. Back in the days large games were distributed on floppies on the PC and Amiga, but you had to install them on a harddisk for playing anyway. And then games moved onto CDs. Today you can download from net or get game distributed on CDs. AGA Amigas didn't have a CD drive as a standard though. With the IDE interface on A1200 you can get cheap storage hardware, like harddisks, compact flash cards and CD-ROM drives.

Wouldn't cf cards be a good medium for games releases on amiga 1200. you ship the game on a cf card and an boot floppy disk which you can also save on and put updates on.

Its standard equipment.

I could add a bunch of games that had better PC versions like, turrican II, flashback 16 colour sprites, civilization, wing-commander etc.. but since any potato pc/raspberry pi can just play them on dosbox today they aren't really "missing" IMHO

Missing I would say are the good a500 games -> CD32/A1200 shoverlware titles that didn't get any upgrades, or even get released.
  • Cannon fodder, sensi soccer with double the play-field colours
  • Bitmapbrother games at proper 60 FPS, or new palette optimizations.
  • Battlesquadron, IK+ dual playfield at double the colour etc.
  • A500 -> Console games that could have done AGA back ports like like chuck rock, turrican III
    [ Show youtube player ]

*edit* Actually scratch that last one, I can just play the console version on that same potato

Since any AGA Amiga can use HDD without any additional hardware, then HDD should be forced standard. Floppy should be only install medium if ever used. And for bigger games CD as medium.

Civilization and Wing Commander have AGA versions which are same as MS-DOS VGA ones.

The DOS version only used 16 colours in game because they wanted it to run in high res mode.
