Overclocking Apollo 4060 thread
http://chain.3dgrafika.cz/temp/apollo4060/apollo_1.jpg
http://chain.3dgrafika.cz/temp/apollo4060/apollo_2.jpg http://chain.3dgrafika.cz/temp/apollo4060/apollo_3.jpg i can get it to 60mhz, but nothing more. tried several processors - it accepts only full RC models, its something to do with ROM/EPROM? All tested processors runs in cyberstorm MKII on 66MHZ fine (and one EC at 75mhz, but only without memory) tested with one 32mb simm, rated at 50ns (works fine in 1240/60 card) There is a lot of jumpers from backside, but they are not mentioned in manual. Is there any trick? CLKEN with GND and CLK option, BUSCLK with BCK and PCK option Clock enable, but why GND? second one is for ram speed? BUSCLOCK/PROCESSOR CLOCK? any suggestions anout those jumpers, ROM updating etc are welcome. pics are for Zetr0, im sure he newer saw this type of pga socket (and this is not hacked, it was sold with this handmade socket) Last edited by Chain; 28 January 2009 at 21:14. |

First thing i would do is move that CLKEN jumper on the back, from GND to CLK. You would then need to set the 060/040 jumper to 040. This is what i do on the Apollo 1260's. It halves the memory speed, and allows the processor to run faster. I have no idea what the BUSCLK is.

the socket is a filed down socket 3, with the additional socket strips placed in
pretty nippy idea actually, however this wouldn't be a stock factory fitted this would be after sales / 3rd party hackery is it possible that this board started out life as an 040 ? |

I have an Apollo 4060 also, not in any A4000 currently though, and, I did manage to get it fully populated with a simm combo that worked! also, I have no desire to ever overclock anything so it is 50mhz and that's ok for me |

What's even worse, I'm starting to post but onto the reason for the reply... you're in luck Zetr0 since the link will be pasted in this thread anyway... I haven't looked at the site for quite sometime so I certainly hope it isn't a site that has gone bye bye due to the passing of time... |

It is true what you said or tried to explain in your earlier post is also in the page I reference, the thing is though, sometimes if the information isn't presented clear enough it isn't much use anyway, I'm not saying you're hard to understand I just think you're suffering from dellusions of Grandurer (sp)
The page I listed has other considerations too... I wish I could give you one of my 9 A4000s but then I'd only have 8 machines and that would suck My Apollo 4060 with 128megs is sitting in a drawer beside a 1260 with 128 megs (won't even mention my other 3 060 boards)... now my PPC233mhz with 128megs has been replaced with my SAM 667mhz 512megs machine... and you think you have problems Everyone Trust me, a SAM is worth getting I can't even begin to convey the pleasure it is to use |
