Yeah, I agree. Dear Esther does have the right kind of atmosphere. It's just needs to be more Roger Dean

Don't really see the problem with this, didn't Psygnosis already deviate from the original with 2 and 3?

Some people need to get over this.

Personally I hated SotB so maybe this game will be more to my liking. (Although I don't like God of War either so maybe not )

We should be grateful "Amiga" is still relevant as a source for gaming.

Have you guys listened to this unused title theme for Beast III? It's really nice. Check here and... The Zone!

I still think this is a really odd choice for a game to remake/reboot or whatever it is they're doing.

How many people even really know this game, especially in the US?
It was ported to the Genesis, I guess that's where most people know it from there, but still.

And even if this game is still well known, how many of the people that know this game actually like it?
I happen to like it (no secret there), but I've always gotten the impression I was in the minority.

It's definitely a strange one. I like the game, but never play it. I like its atmosphere and its story. I'll be keeping an eye on this, but don't have a lot of hope for it.

I'd be more excited if they decided to get the original creators on board, do a HD remake of the 2D original and fix the gameplay.

I agree, that would have me a lot more excited for it... as it is, I'm not really excited about it at all... just a little curious.

Great idea, they should do that too and also include the original versions of the game on the disk, but make them 3D so the parallax scrolling works even better

Worth getting a PS4 just to play SOTB1,2&3 in 3D!!

I'd hate that, I'd much prefer gorgeous high resolution 2D art

My bad, I can see why you misunderstood me.

not 3D Graphics (they can do that for the new game)
3D visuals (3D TV) of the original 2D graphics so the original Parallax scrolling and visuals are given even more depth.
Which would probably need to be made High resolution as you say, as the original graphics won't look very good on a large modern TV

I meant 3D as in fully modelled three dimensional characters, not 3D as 3Dtvs. I see it working like they use it in Street Fighter IV. It plays as a 2D game, but benefits from a more dynamic, non fixed camera.

I never thought of Origins as a 3D game, doesn't that game mainly have 2D assets? I can't remember seeing many polygons in that game

The beast wasn't "frail" in the original game, the manual story says he was Malethoth's "chief executioner" or something and killed hundreds of his enemies so I don't think this re-imagining as a war machine is anything to extreme.

I'm actually quite positive about this unlike a lot of people. Beast had crap gameplay all along, and it was all about the graphics and music. If they capture the feel of the way it looks and sounds, and actually add something interesting to do, this could be quite a fitting tribute.

Interesting to see Karamoon and Malethoth mentioned in the blurb quoted above, so at least they are vaguely keeping the story the same.

Of course if they added full HD (with optional original) graphics and orchestral music to the original trilogy and included them all as extras, that would be nice.

So is there any news about the game development? This silence is annoying.

We have seen remakes of Wipeout, Lemmings, and now Beast.

Maybe they can remake Brian the Lion next.

I received my PS4 yesterday (fantastic machine) and will definitely be purchasing shadow of the beast when it is released next year. Shadow of the Beast II was the first Amiga game I ever played on my mates brand new A500. Really looking forward to this one. Ian is right. We should be grateful an old classic Amiga game is receiving a modern make over.

Some more info can be found here: http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/...coming-to-ps4/
