The Drow Amiga is black as night in color and lives underground. They are difficult to detect and their numbers are few. They are masters of video and cast all illusions at +12. They have 19 hit dice and are nigh impossible to kill directly; however, they are highly susceptible to leaking batteries (saving throw at -10 vs. acid).
The Drow Amiga was long thought to be nothing more than a faery tale adventure until one was photographed in the wild in 2007. |

Ha ha, I just saw this episode. They actually call it a "commodore amiga" and they mention the 68000 chip (I guess that is as far as they got with wikipedia before it became technical "mumbo jumbo" to the writers), but oh my god what a load of crap... 3d rendered and textured graphics moving at what must be 60fps on an Amiga, all taking place in 1987. And on a 5.25" floppy no less, that was soaking in a liquified human body for a good 20 years but still worked perfectly and with ultra lightning speed. Strange, because my 5.25" floppies broke even if you sneezed on them.

almost an insult - audio SUX BIG time (where is this very well known -but I can't identify right now- opening tune from?), 5.25" floppy!? (WHY? ...wouldn't it be simpler to spare the IBM PC desktop and use A1200 floppy?)... also why did they go as far as to present this quite customized setup (even the desktop, not to mention the black color) and don't "just do it" as it is in reality? (and all of us here would be raving ...)
...but at least they mention the name and CPU (and homemade OS???) and do present it as it was something ultra-special, ultra-geek back then |

They actually called it the 6800 instead of the 68000.
I often wonder where Hollywood finds its tech consultants as they often make mistakes like these simple ones. For instance, I recently saw a court drama (Shark, maybe) that had address along the lines of 324.198.101.454.6008! Yes, that's right. Five octets and three of them greater than 255! |

if it was a public IP, then they did it on purpose (so that it doesn't relate to any existing IP) - you know like all phone numbers start with 555

Isn't the 'music' the ring tone to Austin Power's in-car video-phone in the first film ?

Which is why I have always wondered why they don't always use private IP addressed on TV and in movies. At least then it would seem realistic to those of us who understand this and it isn't all that unbelievable that they would be using NAT. |

The 6800 reference made me cringe a little too, but it might not be because of shoddy research or something. Could be the actor just screwed up and nobody noticed (or cared) because it was good enough, as far as takes go. The original writer might have thought it a cool idea to throw in a reference to the Amiga, but then there's rewrites, etc. And had someone brought it up, I imagine alienating a bunch of Amiga enthusiasts wasn't a huge concern..
The 'homemade OS' was about stupid though, especially when it looked like Workbench and added nothing to the plot. Even someone that knows nothing about the Amiga but knows about Windows, MacOS, and/or Linux is going think that was dumb. |

Yay. Bones gonna be on my local tv. Better late than never, ay?
Only about 50 weeks until I'll witness this cool episode. That is *IF* they'll show more than 2 seasons, which I highly doubt... |
