Amiga 1200 floppy drive No click patch
I have searched the forum to no avail so apologies if I missed it.
I looking for the patch to put in the WBstartup folder to stop that annoying click from the floppy drive. I have one called no click which worked with the 500+ but never seemed to work with the 1200. Does anyone know if a patch was made available for the 1200 and if so, was it ever given away on a cover disk? Or does someone know where it could be found? |

no click is new to me... how does it work and is there any way it could damage your drive?
i normally stick a blank disk in the drive once in wb to stop the click |

I still hear a faint click-sound even if using NoCLick with BlizKick. The drive is a modified PC drive though...

I have been using NOClick in my kickstart for well over 2 years now and it hasnt damaged my drive.
I to can hear a very slight click noise, hardly noticable, I have an original drive, not PC modified. |

I used it on my A500 for over three years with no issues but never found a working version for use on the A1200
I have downloaded and placed it on the hard drive in the WBstartup folder but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Double click on the icon and it works (although still a slight click) Is this the right location? |

I also use the program for my 1200 with exterernal drive. They both "click" for approx. 3 times while system is booting. Then I just enjoy the silence.
Works like a charm. |

Noclick can potentially damage some drives. The test is easy, though. If you run a Noclick utility and your drive clicks louder, unload it and never run it again on that drive, because your particular drive has no track limit sensor and since Noclick tools patch the diskchange logic to step from track 0 to track -1, such drives actually bang the head against the stop and foul the alignment over time. If you have multiple drives and only one or some of them exhibit this loud clicking, then find a tool that lets you apply the patch selectively.

As both of my connected drives keep silent, I think they are not affected from the mentioned above.
Is there a list which Amiga models use disk drives without track limit sensor? Or is it only a very few? |

Am I the only one who likes the floppy disk click sound?! It's like the heartbeat of the Amiga, and ocassionally is reassuring that the machine hasn't crashed
I've never ran an anti-click, I've always loved the drive click, it let's me know my machine is alive! |

I use anticlick and MCP its noclick function. Unfortunately blizkick`s or remapollo`s noclick patch doesn`t work here (tried to load as module and build-in remus ROM). Do anyone know a romable or resident noclick?

humm but if you have 2 or 3 drives plugged in it can be a bit loud
any way I rather save on ware and tear of the drive, knowing the drive is there and ready and willing is enough for me |

noclick utilities sometimes work for me sometimes won't work for me. I guess it depends on the model of the drive. I think the only one that works for mine is the one inside MCP.
I tried the one (updated trackdisk.device) from unofficial boingbags but it won't work. |
