Offer: Darkfall - old beta version of unreleased sci fi adventure
Hi,
I have this old beta version of the unreleased pretty good German sci fi adventure game for Amiga named Darkfall, made by Jürgen Vierheilig. I've got the copy (not quite legally) back in the 1990s (around 1996-1998) and have stored in on HD since then. Unluckily it is not 100% complete because I replaced some music (10 to 20MB) with dummy files. HD storage was expensive and limited these days. This music was actually copyrighted material: "Mariah Carey - Hero" and score from the movie "Abyss" I think, so it's not a big loss. This Blitz Basic game features hi-res raytracing graphics with edited images of women, probably scanned from erotic magazines. I suppose these images were the main cause that this game was never released - copyright issues, very naive of the developer. Later in the game there are incomplete graphics, not yet included by the developer. But you can hover around with the mouse to find and interact with invisible objects. I don't know, if the game can be completed this way. I could never find any information about this game on the internet. The developer once had a private homepage where he offered a free German PDF of his detective novel with the same name (here), which I still have. The novel seems unrelated to the game. (Download link via PM, if someone is interested) This Jürgen Vierheilig is also the one known as FakeFactory (http://cinematicmod.com, YouTube). I've never contacted him, so maybe a more complete version of the game exists somewhere. I'd like to share the game with you, so it doesn't get lost. I will add some screenshots here. Anyone interested? Did anyone ever heard of this game? Download in the zone: darkfall.zip (Why shall I not link directly?) Problem: I have unpacked/repacked the files on a Windows system, thus some Umlauts of filenames seem screwed in the archive now. "SGerõusche0" => "SGeräusche0" "SGerõusche1" => "SGeräusche1" "SZur³ck0" => "SZurück0" "SZur³ck1" => "SZurück1" Someone should fix that. In UAE I encountered some kind of crash in the intro (screen with ship animation and story introductory text): Graphics disappear and the screen starts to flicker and when clicking around the HALT state is set, I don't know why. Quickly switching to the Workbench screen and pulling the screen down in the critical scene it went a bit further. Protip: Load the file "DefGame" as saved game, the program will complain but skips the crashing scene. This is some kind of default start state file I suppose. There are 2 save states I once saved to, they load without problem. Here is the text I copied from the "Darkfall" executable, which looks like the ending credits: Quote:
Darkfall beta test mentioned: here Bruno Leidig (mentioned as beta tester) offered Vierheilig's Amiga stuff for sale in 1996: here (infidels ) As I could read in old newsgroups posts J. Vierheilig is related to "madservice", current contact is: here Googling for "madservice+fakefactory", you can read that FakeFactory refers to madservice, which shows it is the very same Jürgen Vierheilig. It sounds interesting and I've never heard of it. Can you upload it to the Zone here? (http://eab.abime.net/faq.php?faq=vb_...ezone_faq_item).
Thanks! |

This looks really interesting. I'd love someone did an English translation of this game at some point.
