I can't stress enough to you to try and stretch your budget a bit more and get at least an 030 accelerator. The speed of your machine will be many times quicker and you'll be able to have at least 32mb fast.

An 8mb card these days will set you back arround £35 on eBay, where as an 030+fast ram will be around £50-70 depending on make / revision.
If i could suggest two particular; Blizzard 030 Mk4 (030@50mhz) This is the definitive 030 for the Amiga, it can have upto 128MB in its one simm port, and has the possiblity of adding a SCSI card to it that can also have another 128MB of ram as well... Apollo 030 Mk3 (030@40mhz) This card should be a little cheaper than the Blizzy, by around 25% on average. dont be fooled its a great card, although can handle 32MB of ram natively, and after a very simple modification (adding another simm port) can handle another 32MB giving you 64MB ram total. Apollo cards also have a SCSI module, alas theres no memory expansion on it, and in truth its woefully poor implementation. One of the redeeming qualities of the Apollo 030 mk3 is the fact it has reported slightly faster Chip access times. I hope that helps. |

@ALiasXZ
to be honest, i would hold off buying that Blizzard 030 Mk3. The Mk3 can only handle 32MB (according to http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/search....&base=dec&pid= ) the Mk3 only really addressed a few timing issues discovered in the first 2 revisions, but more so to reduce cost in manufacture. Although there are reported issues with timmings on certain motherboards with the first 2 revisions, I believe the Mk3 Blizzard 030 is perhaps for me the worst card they produced in the 030 range.. Hold off and get a Mk2 or 4, perhaps even an Apollo 030Mk3 would be better than that... I will say that its commanding a premium that it really has no right to ask as well... especially in today's market. |

oh dear.... i was too late.... i am sorry AliasXZ
on a plus note, you can always get the SCSI module add-on that will give you the option of another 128MB of ram |

Don't worry about memory! I've a Blizzard 1230 IV with 16 MB and I never run out of memory. Perhaps only a few tools require more than 8 MB Fast RAM.

16? Upgrade it to 128! Overkill of course, but hey you might as well take advantage of the fact that your card supports it.
