Anyone used Redskulls' Flashrom?

Leading from title, i'm looking to see if you guys have used it, and maybe anyone used it with an A1200 (or a modification of it?)

I got back into Amiga because of a fondness for a machine i used so much when i was younger(A500+), the fact i could get an A1200 for less than a tenner,() a machine i always wanted, and i wanted some kit where i could mess around with and modify.. (and knowing the reasons why )

I'm a wanting flashrom!!

let me know whatcha know and whatcha think

The range of professional flash ROMS for big box Amiga's sort of stole it's thunder.

Algor Pro
Deneb
Kickflash
eFlash
etc.

Add to that the BlizKick feature of most accelerators and it was just not a product which excited a lot of people.

And there is a shame, as i believe that there a number of us out here who really like a home grown hands on build it yerself kit. Peeps like me, love it for more reasons that i can put in a few lines..

No harm in re-engineering things for your own purposes? If the kit is gone, we should just do it all.

No reason why it wouldn't work. The a1200 has provisions for flashrom out of the box. It's in the schematics.

It's pretty easy to adapt the design to the 1200, which already provides flashrom select lines (as Jope pointed out).

Best off using a couple of 29F800's which can be bought fairly cheaply in small lots in SOIC packages.
Example:
http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/bro...001&Ntt=29F800

I'm getting a bit too old (read that as poor eyesight) to work with TSOP package chips.

29F800's will give you plenty of space to experiment with 512k or 1MB images.
Programming algorithms will be similar.

SOIC to DIP adapters are easy to find:
http://www.ezprototypes.com/DipAdaptersMain.php

02-AK44D600-SOJ should do the trick.
Will be slightly longer than the kickstart sockets due to extra pins.

Of course you may want to just fabricate your own PCB instead.

Have fun!

Let me know if you need any help with it.

I found this:
http://www.doobreynet.co.uk/flash.html

I am very interested in this, can somebody explain more?
Is this a space where I can have different ROMs and use the one I want on startup (kind of like a Retro Replay cart on C64)?

Can I do this with softkicking? Like, softkicking a modified ROM image?

I would like to add the compactflash.device to ROM, for one...
