Finding a bad memory chip
My A3000D's memory sockets are maxed out, which means that I should have 16MB Fast RAM available. But the system is only recognizing 12MB, which means that after OS3.9 system overhead and the programs running in the background I only have about 5MB available to play with, which isn't enough.
How do I locate the bad memory chip(s)? Disassembling the A3000 is such a pain in the ... that I don't want to have to do it more than once. It would help if I could nail down the bad chip, or at least the bank of 8 chips it's in, before I take the computer apart. Anyone know of any utilities that might help? Thanks in advance.... |
