Jope: thanks a lot! I will try this. However, I'll be away for two weeks, so it will take some time, but by then I will get back for sure.

Thanks for making things clearer.

The battery is for some sort of NVRAM, possibly for settings or save games.

Hope you get her back up and running again. Wonder how many units they made with the earlier board/690 branding... nice for the collection anyway

Did you get this working?

Unfortunately not, but only because I haven't had the time to get into it. Vacation over and blah blah..

(Anyway, I suspect the logical conclusion then is that it is broken in some way, since people here pointed out that a drained battery was not a plausible explanation. ..and I'm no good at fixing hardware stuff.)

Anyway, thanks for showing interest in this issue.

Hello, I know resuming a discussion from 2007 is not easy, but I have no choice. Do you still have the A690 ROM image file? because I have an A690 with a possibly corrupt eprom.

The A690 is just an A570 with a different badge and there are lots of dumps of the EPROM from the A570. Don't forget to dump yours first or use a different EPROM

hi,

I come back to you, because I find tons of Amiga kickstarts the CDTV and CD32 ROMs, but nothing on the A570 or A690, would you have a link where I could find this.

It is against forum rules to tell you where to get it from without paying for it as it is still under license and you can still buy a license for the data from Cloanto today.

Here is there list of all ROMs Cloanto license :

https://cloanto.com/amiga/roms/

This is the one you want :

Code:
A-570 Extended ROM (v. 2.30)	May 1992	02.030	ROM	391298-01
If you do find the data you want to burn it to a single 16-bit 27C400 EPROM (or equivalent) you cannot use CDTV ROMs as they use two 8-bit ROMs

Because there was only one ROM for A570 and it is a MASK ROM (and they almost never go wrong) no-one sells EPROMs for the A570/A690 because there is absolutely zero demand.

As I said previously in this thread. The battery does NOT power the ROM and it cannot loose it's contents if the battery dies. I very much doubt you have a broken ROM. There is a very slim chance as early A690's had UV EPROMs they can loose their contents if exposed to sunlight but very unusual.

Once you have the data I am sure anyone selling Kickstart ROMs can make you one. Choose someone local as they may need to make two attempts (byte swap)

Hello, Thank you for your answer, yes indeed I do not think that the eprom is a problem, I think more about a problem of PCB because of the damage of the battery but I have checked everything and I do not understand why it works well except the screen with the CDTV logo which remains a black screen.

I've posted what is believed to be the ROM of A690 in the Zone. I can't confirm it really is, just that it prints 2.0 (rather than 2.7 or 2.30 of A570).
