Pulse by Nerve Axis in 1996 was the first demo to be ran on my then new Apollo 1240....

Well, I think it was new. I might've had it a few months by then.

Hybrid Glenz by The Silents, released in May 1993, was the first demo to feature hybrid glenz vectors. It was coded by Spirou and Cuddley. The intro was released to announce Spirou and Cuddley joined The Silents and to welcome other new members, Angel Dawn, Autopsy, Joker and Maddox, to the group.

Pfooh, i don't want to disparage the technical achievements involved, but as artistics works these are all pretty bad.

...Coder-graphics supreme

Still, interesting to see when certain things poped up in the demoscene timeline!

NOTE: this post has been edited several times to clarify "the first". For now we leave this one until further research. clarifications in the posts below by hitchhikr.

First 8 channel replayroutine in a production was heard and seen in "Tune Show IV - Spherical Dreams (Musicdisk)" in Feb 1990, coded by Tip Of The Acoustic Revolution

Leather Dream by Parallax, released in Feb 1992, was probably the first production to feature a lightsourced glenz vector, AKA Ice-Glenz. It was coded by Bandog.

Wrong (again), this intro features a standard .mod called "melody2" done by Trashcan & available here: https://amp.dascene.net/downmod.php?index=59993

The first demo using a 8 voices Soundtracker module was the "8 Voices Demo": https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=89547 by Swans.

Parallax - Metro (1992) had the first real time rotating 4096-faced light-sourced sphere. And there's a good reason why others didn't follow

Code by Guru & Simply.

You´re right "again" I mistakenly misunderstood that the intro that belonged to the Shining8-8ChannelTracker had an 8-channel mod, my mistake.
I edit the post credit you hitchhikr, thx for your contribution

Anyway, we need to go deeper into this, this musicdisk with oktalyzer tunes is from 1990-02-27
Seems all musics have 6 channels except the last one: "Storm angel" with 8 channels. So maybe until we do more research, maybe this music disk is the first production with 8-channel music. I'm keeping the Swans demo, let's see what hitchhikr thinks.

The 8-voices Soundtracker which was the preview of Oktalyzer was made Armin Sander and not by Shinning 8 (or even Shining).

I remember Armin told me some years ago that his source codes where stolen at a copyparty (i think Swans got the source of that preview and extracted a replay from it), i also also remember that i got some of them from Sharlaan of Ackerlight, that's how i can tell that the source of the preview that was leaked was made by Mr. Sander because the style of the code was the same as the sources i had.

There was some research about this preview:

https://www.paula8364.com/post.php?i...25102019213627

and a thread about that in EAB:

https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=83608

That's pretty much useless nowadays but I made a fixed version of it should anyone be interested (including a standalone replay):

https://hitchhikr.net/8VoicesSoundtracker.zip

That musicdisk was coded by Armin Sander too, it was probably made as an advertisement for Oktalyzer and beside the tunes which were included with the tracker itself it's probably the first production using music with more then 4 channels, yes.

Actually it's "Future Melody" which have 8 channels .

A bit of nit-picking.. PHR-Crew's Sin Intro scroller was also in med-res/hires (640 pix anyway)

First Soundtracker module was heard and seen in "Moebius (Crack Intro)" by Ming of The Star Frontiers. October 1987

NOTE: We will keep this production as "the first one" as we have doubts if it was really this one or the one of RSI or HQC.
