Perhaps the drive died. Try to boot with the drive disconnected.

Also, possibly a loose IDE cable?

None of those. Believe it or not it was because I had an Svideo cable plugged into my YCP-100, as soon as I unplugged the cable the Cd mounted

Free beer to anyone who can tell me why

Ah, maybe it's a disturbance in the force :P My guess would be some sort of funky grounding issue is causing noise in your A4000, and that is being picked up by the CD drive cable or something along those lines, causing data to be garbled.

I had totally bizarre issues on an A1200 that I eventually traced back to a noisy laptop charger...

The way I figured it out was that everything was working before I connected the TBC and attached the svideo cable to the YCP-100. So I powered on my 4000T and wouldn't mount the CD so I thought maybe AsimCDFS or OS issue so I formatted and reinstalled WB and AsimCDFS and still had the same issue so I remembered what I did that changed to make it stop working. So I first disconnected the TBC and it still hung. Then I pulled the Svideo cable and as soon as I did the CD mounted and everything was back to normal. It just makes no sense but it works so maybe someone else can learn something from this.

I have a smilar problem occasionally with my A4000T. I have an s-video cable going from a TBCIV into a YCP-100 and both s-video outputs connected. When this happens, the led on the CD rom won't light up when I turn the machine on. I just turn it off, lightly tap the front of the CD rom and it goes away. Weird power grounding issue I would say. Could be inside the CD-rom itself. I think Amiga Techologies furnished the A4000T with a stock CD-rom.

Ami_gfx,

I am going to install a SATA DVD drive with my SATA to IDE converter in my 4000T and leave my TBC IV connected to the YCP-100 and lets see if its SCSI related. If it works on IDE then its something to do with the SCSI bus which is where I am putting my money
