Distinction: RPG vs Adventure

Battletech is filed under adventure, but I think science fiction RPG would be more fitting. It is party based and features character development.

Anyway it is difficult to draw a clear line here. Any thoughts on this?

As a rule of thumb (if it isn't that clear in which category a game belongs) : Does it have stats you can improve? Yes = RPG, no = adventure
