Ironclaw, do you not think the picture from CodyJarrett matches perfectly? Same style, clothes, pose etc...
Though obviously it's up to you which picture you choose. |

Well, NOB's picture has the exact same head posion, it also have the upped eye browse, Cody's doesn't have those two. But cody has the same exact beard and clothing, therefore I will add both pics , I think that's best to do.
I'll add Cody's and NOB's name. |

You still need to update 'Der Clou!' and change it to Humphrey Bogart!

Well mister I don't know who Humphrey Bogart is.. and if the guy in the picture is supposed to be Humphrey Bogart, then you look up a good comparison and I'll make a second der clou look alike ... because I think he looks like Brad and don't want to replace my finding with Humphrey Bogart.

There are three types of Look-A-Likes on your page:
1) The artist has used a photo of an actor, sports personality etc. to base their drawing on. 2) The artist has intentionally inserted the likeness of someone into a game. The reference is usually appropriate to the game style. 3) A picture of a character looks like a famous person but there was no intention on the part of the artist to draw it that way. In many cases the Look-A-Like became famous after the Amiga game was released. You're saying that 'Der Clou!' is number 3) but I'm saying that it's number 2). I agree with you that the painting in the game looks like Brad Garrett (although I'd never heard of him under I checked the Internet Movie Database!). However, the artist clearly meant for it to be Humphrey Bogart, who was one of the most famous Hollywood actors of the 30s, 40s and 50s. Bogart often played hard private eye types (in films such as The Big Sleep and The Maltese Falcon) and would be an ideal reference to insert into Der Clou!, which is a detective game set in the 50s. The picture in Der Clou! isn't a particularly accurate likeness but you can see where the pixel artist has tried to capture salient features. For example, Bogart had a scar on his lip from an injury. The extended upper lip also appears in the game picture. Number 2) should override number 3) or in this case 2) should be the primary Look-A-Like and 3) the secondary one. Here's another photo of Bogart. Last edited by CodyJarrett; 14 May 2006 at 23:24. |

Yep, I want to have rules to the Amiga look-alike page... tried to before but someone didn't like it or thought it was unnecessary. The rules I go by is:
The comparison picture must resemble the art in the amiga screen shot No direct photo resemblance is accepted as it is clearly the person on the photo... only art based is accepted.... so this: http://eab.abime.net/attachment.php?...4&d=1147125484 is not accepted of course... but if the cover would be done in art rather then a photo... it could been accepted. etc.... oh... so messy... This is what I would have liked it to be: Quote:
Sooo.. we need rules and I'll let you decide ...... please .... so we can get things clear.... or maybe have different sections on the page?.. like: look-a-likes: intentionally or look-a-likes: unintentionally So maybe all pictures should go though this thread first for verification before adding them. ?? |

I had some sparetime and have updated the look-a-likes page. I divided them into Intentionally and Unintentionally... but I'm unsure which ones really are made Intentionally and Unintentionally.. please have a look and verify.
Thanks. http://recordedamigagames.ath.cx/mod...dex.php?id=101 |

Good page, but there should be a link back to this thread (and Der Clou has been added twice). I also think the differentiation between intentional and unintentional is kinda pointless.

There is a link back to this page if you check the bottom of the page

And der clou has not been added twice, they are different... on is the intentional look alike found by Cody.. the other is an unintentional, but me.. As we don't have any rules saying which to go by... intentional or unintentional... I divided them so we now go by both... ...and the page isn't exactly eye candy.... I havn't gone with any look-good look.... it's just a quick page to have all look alikes on.... nothing special. edit: Fixed the links.... hovering effect should work now.. but all are white til you hover them with the mouse. I personally think that actor Brian Blessed looks more like this character than Zak Dingle does.
