ECS 060 games?

Apologies if this is not the right section...

Are there any titles that will get the benefit of an 060 that do not require AGA? Every time I see someone mention a game that benefits from 040 or 060 such as Breathless and AB3D, I go to look it up and see that it's AGA only.

Don't get me wrong, I kind of understand why - AGA and 040 or 060 kind of go hand in hand, but these days with accelerators they're by no means mutually exclusive!

Off top of my head Doom, but it looks grim in EHB mode.
If you have got a graphics card there are a few others. Search for games supporting RTG, like Payback and Foundation, should be the same for Napalm etc?

ScummVM ECS
Frontier Elite 2 and other older 3d games.
If you get an RTG card the list is longer..

MacOS games are ok with AGA, old games might be fine on ECS?

About every flight and space simulator. And racing games - Test Drive, Lotus etc, F1GP etc. And Buggy Boy - it really flies on my A500T / 060 - it's not tied to VBL I think. Elite II, Zeewolfs, Citadel really, almost every game that is demanding when moving graphics. Most of them are just OCS.

It does look like I could do with finishing the RTG. I want to anyway as I'm finding developing on Linux with a cross compiler, whilst nicer in terms of IDE, a bit of a pain in other respects.

Some good titles worth checking out so far though!

Nemac IV: Director's Cut, Trapped and Trapped 2 Can use ECS
If you have an Indivision ECS Scandoubler you can use the Graffiti mode and get 256 Colours on an ECS machine. Not tried it though, wouldn't mind giving it ago on my A2000.

I don't. I have an Indivision for my A1200 but honestly, I didn't like it so I took it out and bought a Microvitec monitor instead. I should probably get round to selling it, but in the back of my mind I keep thinking that one day I might need it and then not be able to get one

The 060 machine is a GB-A1000 so I don't know if the ECS scandoubler would work but like I say, the intention is to ultimately go RTG on it anyway. I didn't really build the machine for gaming but it's currently on the desk next to my main gaming PC so it's getting all my attention at the moment.

[EDIT] It also just occurred to me that getting any of these games onto the machine could be a bit of a challenge given RS232 null modem is my usual transfer method. I guess removing the SD card and connecting it to FS-UAE it is then!

Reminds me: My mother threw my Microvitec by mistake a few years ago.... (ok I left it there, my fault)

Now there are "modern" LCD monitors able to perform 50Hz/15KHz (Dell U2412M as discussed here http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=85693). I like the idea that you can still buy amiga compatible hardware in 2017 in mainstream shops.

The only reason of using a 060 is for the classic games and the fast loading. ScummVM doesn't qualify IMHO: it's much better on a PC anyway.

For a better transfer method have you considered making a Plipbox?
You can make them for a few quid off ebay.
http://lallafa.de/blog/amiga-projects/plipbox/

Just so you know on my A2000 I have to use the Amiga device from the v0.5 package, although the plipbox it's self can be flashed with the v0.6 firmware. I think there is something on the A2000 that conflicts with the fast burst protocol if I remember correctly. But on the A4000 I can use v0.6 on both the plibbox and Amiga side, you would have to see which works best on yours.

I transferred ScummVM last night to have a look at but haven't currently any games for it. The transfer took about half an hour but I just had it running in the background while I was doing other things so it wasn't really too much of a big deal.

I haven't really considered anything else yet in terms of transfers because ultimately my intention was to add USB to the machine. But that hasn't gone well so far, my first Rapid Road (which was in my 1200) is off being repaired and until I get that back and know how reliable and stable that will be I'm not buying the second.

I also just recently acquired a little Polaroid 19" TV/DVD combo. The picture is amazing and it de-interlaces perfectly with no flicker at all. That was a surprise little gem that turned up! I just need a remote for it so I can get into the geometry settings.

I surprised myself last night. I have never been a fan of FPS games on the Amiga simply because (in my opinion of course) they just look like a chunky bunch of pixels and frankly, sometimes it's hard to even make out what that blob is!

But I downloaded Gloom Deluxe, loaded it onto the GBA and had a go. In full screen 1x1 graphics mode it was really rather good. It was nearly 3AM by that point so I didn't get long but I rather enjoyed it. I am pleasantly surprised...
