Hi dude,
yes, I been looking for this game for years.... and always the same "WoW" version.... but I have faith and hopefully someone bought the original one

Well, to be honest, I don't know much about WHDLoad...I don't know what to do and I not pretty sure if this WHD version is okay.

WHDLoad installs are created for original disk images. http://whdload.de/games/HumanKillingMachine.html states that the image was provided by Wolfgang Unger and the pre-installed version has to use a compatible image (which means one made from the original disk). I am pretty sure the WHDLoad version is okay

I see, but a H.K.M. in adf format (i'm not an expert in this kind of stuff) would be great, but, apparently nobody has a copy of this game....I think back in 1989 all the copies were burned

I have an original of the game here, I will image it and see if it's OK...

Update: Bad news, 1 track is bad - track 83 has a checksum error on it. My track 0 is slightly different to the version on WHDownload.com aswell suggesting it's a different version, but a binary difference over the entire disc (including my "faulty" track 83) shows only differences on track 0. Maybe the SPS guys need to step in and analyse if it's OK...

Codetapper, I have the CU AMIGA coverdisk of HKM and using the HKM Parameter in PowerCopy (Stingray crack) it only copies tracks 0-67, it puts a '3' in tracks 68-79 so I guess they are not used!

I also copied the disk to DEV: in PowerCopy and it only saves tracks from PC000 to PC135, wrote it back to a disk and that appears to work on my A1200 (NoCache/OCS) as it loads up and plays to the first fight!

So I've LZX'd the files in my DeviceDrawer and uploaded it to the Zone for anyone to test with PowerCopy on a real Amiga.

Edit: Also appears to work in WinUAE copied to an Extended ADF file via PowerCopy DeviceDrawer

Barry: You're referring to cylinders, not tracks. Track 83 = cylinder 41, which is used.

But it's great that your disc appears to work!

Got ya, so used to seeing tracks written as 0-79 instead of 0-159 I also have a Kryoflux dump of the CU disk too if needed.

Thanks BarryB Indeed Powercopy again did the trick this is the perfect tool to create or write extended ADF games or also back to disk.

PowerCopy DeviceDrawer
I just test an extended ADF I made using your files and the game hangs after the SAGAN fight when trying to load track 68.

Cylinders 68 onwards are definitely unformatted, so either the game was never mastered properly or coded badly. What a surprise from Tiertex!

Maybe Donald Campbell (programmer) figured the game was so lame that nobody would play it past the first fighter and US Gold never bothered to test it? There's no protection it seems other than a custom disk format.

For those that have forgotten how awful the game is, here's the entire set of animation frames from the first fight. Cringe how your guy rotates in his jump 180 degrees in a single frame...

If I remember correctly it's game on Street Fighter engine. It wasn't easy task to make good game on base like that.

Another mystery solved! The WHDLoad version has a faulty RawDIC imager. Several tracks seem to be decoded as blank tracks when they contain data.

[ Show youtube player ]

I have made a replacement imager and that has all the graphics, so I will update the install kit and get it on the WHDLoad site soon!

I ripped the data and made a memory loader to test and managed to get to the last guy and beat him. So there is something wrong with the extended ADF and loading the very last track (causes a hang).

I will make an adf soon for you to test, do you want a trainer too?.

Well I'm off to bed now but I've uploaded everything to the zone... A trainer would be great!

Update: I suspect the last characters graphics are partially in cylinder 68, here's what the bottom of the disk image looks like when viewed with my ripper:

Surely the final guy (if he is the last?) would have more frames than that? And the bottom left one really looks cut off. It's only 154 pixels tall where all others are 200 tall.
