Clockport RTC as solution for leaky batt

Does anyone knows if it's possible to use a zorro card's (such as the buddha, x-surf, deneb) clockport in combination with an A1200 clockport RTC?

My Amiga 4000's clock is gone, you see...

I'm using FACTS (gets time through the internet) right now, but I'd like to go the hardware-fix way.

Why not add a new battery?

I must say, the rechargable lithium button cell is a nice one. But will simply not help me.

The leaking battery damaged my RTC stuff. I've measured my mainboard, several traces are broken incl. the RTC and clock-latch itself :-(

If you have an X-Surf then you probably have the internet... if you have the internet then all you need is this software:

http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/facts

I think it would work with a broken / no RTC.

He said he IS using FACTS, but wants a hardware fix.

D'oh.. I should read through before hitting post.

WHY a hardware fix? Feeling inadequate

What do you need a clock for anyhow?

Can you even get Clockport RTC modules anywhere?

I've got this Microbotics Inc. "12 a'clock" clockport module and a clockport on my Deneb USB2 controller... So it would have been a nice solution for my broken RTC (on the mainboard).

Why? Because I might take my miggy to a place where they don't have internet. File timestamps might be handy in case of coding etc.

You look at the time on u're phone and then change it manually

It should work fine, not sure if the clock port on other cards are at the same addresses though...

Take care with orientation, wrong way round and BANG no more Zorro card.

Okay...

Michael Boehmer from E3B (maker of the Deneb card) advised me not to go this way. It seems there is no software available for setting the RTC clockport clock since I'm not using the standard clockport address I guess.
I should go the i2c way: see aminet

I'll keep y'all up-to-date I that worked out well. Thanks for the reactions

Shouldn't it be relatively easy to code a small program that redirects the OS to use the clock on an extra clockport?
