GVP HD8 Hangup
Hi Everyone
I've just got my A500 out from storage (with KS2.04) and my Trusty HD8 however the Hard disc had died, I replaced it with a 170Mb SCSI drive pinched from an old Mac LC475 and eventually created a new install disc as I couldn't find the original... However. With the Switch in autoboot and rebooting the A500 the Yellow HD light just stays on and the system hangs. In Game mode and booting WB2 No HD is visible. Booting from the GVP install Disc in order to prep the drive and running Expertprep, Prompt appears "no drivers loaded issue Binddrivers" So I do. at which the yellow light stays on and the mouse remains in the clock state. Copying the GVP scsidevice over to the Expansion drawer on my WB2 disc causes the same LED on situation during floppy boot and the system hangs. The new Drive is an IBM H3171-S2 and the only jumper info I find on the net does not match up with my single 7Pin row of jumpers???. I have tried all jumper positions and the drive light does not come on unless I leave pos 2 jumpered as it was when removed from the Mac and the above happens... Does anyone know the Jumper ID's I have spent hours with a vengence to get this working and call out for some expert help.. Thank you all in advance |

Probably the HD is incorrectly configured.
Scourge recycling centers / online auctions for a different small disk, one you can find the proper jumper documentation for? |

I'm Tempted to try the drive in my PC this weekend as I have a SCSI crd installed on that....
The jumper config for this drive must exist somewhere though, Don't want to risk getting a new drive in case the HD8 is at fault. Does someone have an original Drive they don't want or need anymore??? I'm searching for a 2.5" IDE <4GB for my A1200 too.. |
