installation trouble
I am trying to install winuae onto an old 32 bit laptop with xp. no matter if i use the installer or the zip (for 32 bit, i know) after installing when i try opening the program i keep getting the error "windows cannot access the specified device path or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"
There are no user accounts set up, so I am opening it as the 'owner' |

New versions require Windows 7 or above, you need to use 4.2.1 or older according to:

Well, I can reproduce this error when installing it on limited user account. No problems on admin account.

Winuae_Ini.zip
Try the zip version with a portable mode enabled winuae.ini file. Maybe then it won't try access restricted folders and lets you in the GUI. The ini file should go to same folder as Winuae.exe. |

You have anit-virus software installed? If so
disable it and try to run the program again. |

portable as in right click > extract files instead of opening the folder? that makes no difference.
I have no anti virus enabled and it is a laptop with a intel celeron x86 |

Problem here is he can't access the configuration menu because of the path access error, that's why I attached a Winuae.ini file which has portable mode and relative paths enabled.
Copy it to Winuae.exe folder and see whether it fixes the issue. |
