UK Made A1200 Rebuild

Well as promised (its taken longer than i thought!) the rebuilt UK made A1200.

Finished in pearlesent white (it looks naff in the pics but up close its lovely, like oil on a puddle)

well here is the before...



This is the casing after the finishing coat. the pinkness is the refraction of light from the pearl finish... mmm

This is the Motherboard, Accelerator, new 6gb HDD (rescued from a ancient dell p2 laptop, my miggy only sees 4GB, well it can see 6, but it caused me no end of issues trying to install classic wb, the drive beyond 4gb kept corrupting, anyways done it as just under 4gb and all is well, and all killer gorrilla whdload packs are on) Blizz IV @50 with FPU and 16mb)



And Finally its all together, with new Amigakit 1200 keyboard, did have a 1084 i also refurbed, but it went pop while my gf was playing some games... lol she also killed a 17" reliysys LCD i had by tripping over it when i briefly moved it.. man she is a jinx! never mind she promised me a new screen so going for one of those small 10.4" LCD that can do VGA up to 1024x768... with scart, comp and svideo, so will do all my toys!)



And here as a bonus is a shot of my Dreamcast and Saturn.



And Finally, some hardware naughtyness for our Zetr0... can ya tell what it is yet kids!



Im pretty chuffed with the the finish attained on the machine, and im glad i kept all original labels intact, all i need to do now is add my Squirrel with CD drive and eternal 10GB HDD. after years im planning on getting into some games development, so installed Devpac, Hisoft C++ and Storm C 3.0, amos, blitz etc.

I never knew about the amstrad plus machines... I am now on the lookout for a 6128 plus.

Two brand new 464 plus on ebay... no 6128 ones

6128+s are not so easy or cheap to find

hells bells 119 for each of the 464's mad stuff, and not on this planet mate! lol i gave 5 notes for mines at local boot sale a yr or two back, ok it isnt like new but hey these things aint the most collected of hardware,and to be honest no games were ever designed to take advantage of the extra hardware the plus machines included (seriously they could display as many colours onscreen as a A500!) but all the developers stuck to doing normal 464 or 6128 games, lowest common denominator! only some 30 diff cartridge based games were made for the plus machiones and the GX4000 console amstrad did as well. these were the only apps to make use of the added features

Yep, a big shame.
Most of the real good cart games are rare and very expensive.
The Plus machines were awesome, a big wasted chance.
