Miami vs Genesis

I'm about to install 3.9 and I'm wondering if I should use the Genesis it comes with or stick with Miami. What do you guys think is the better stack?

But, what stack comes with Easynet? It's either AmiTCP/Genesis or Miami. Not many other choices on Amiga.

After i upgraded to 1gbit connection and got my new Netgear CM232 modem (which is configurable only by the provider) i bought a router to share my net connection between the PC & Amiga (and to stop changing the net-cable between them). Now, in OS4 internet works fine, but can't seem to get it working under 3.9 anymore using either Genesis or Miami (DX/32). In Miami the DHCP doesn't fetch the network settings at all. And the IP-address seems to change very often. Bummer!

FWIW: I'd go with Genesis.
Faster, smaller, uses fewer resources.
Doesn't do DCHP, but then I could never get it to work with Miami anyway.

I've got SAMBA & SMBFS running fine via Genesis on my Amithlon system over my network.
(SAMBA is a bit sluggish on my '060 A1200

but SiameseRTG helps there)

If you're using a router the lack of DCHP isn't a problem - choose a static address for your miggy & then set the router up to always assign that address to your miggy's MAC. That way if the rest of your network is DCHP is doesn't matter.

I don't know how i mixed up the two things, but i DON'T have a ROUTER. It's a SWITCH!

So i have both PC & Amiga connected to the switch and the cable modem connected to the switch's 1st port.

I can't understand the question so I will post the following...

You can't obtain a MAC address. MAC address is the Hardware address that the NIC has from it's vendor and it's Unique in the world (at least that is what we all want to believe).

You can only obtain IP Address in case you use DHCP on your router or other DHCP server that ofc can't be used in Genesis but only in Miami.

If your question is about obtaining NIC's MAC address in order to use it on an Access Point/Router Access list filtering, then you can easily disable the Access List on the Router/Access Point, then check the associated NICS, check the MAC address that's the more frequent then add it to the Access List.

Sorry for my bad english. I do not know MAC adress my network card x-surf. I need MAC adress for setting network connection in my internet provider. Under Win2k/XP I use command ipconfig -all, under AmigaOS and MIAMI I use GUI.

I need read my MAC adress under AmigaOS and Genesis. I use external sanautil from Aminet:
sanautil STATUS -d DEVS:Networks/FastEthernet.device -u 0

I need read my MAC adress without sanautil.
