Haha. I reviewed that book for them. Great stuff, and I'm friends with Zach Whalen. I don't know Laurie quite so well, but we've worked on a few things.

Hehe, thanks, guys. I just put a new one up on the ol' game of Rogue. If you watch carefully, there are clips from Amiga, Atari ST, and ZX Spectrum. :P

It must be very weird for Ralph Baer to look at the video games that are being played today - I hope that Ralph made some money from his ideas... there were lots of different companies releasing various versions of his Tennis game... from what you say at the end Matt, I assume that Ralph was basically ripped off!

Hi Matt,

great (as usual ). Interesting thoughts about the philosophy of video gaming. Funny that you mentioned Diablo, but didn't provide any screenshots. I always wondered if Diablo wasn't theoretically just another clone. (Yet a great one, I still whistle that somber guitar tune sometimes.)

Now that you covered some real classics, maybe it would be time for Tetris? I'm sure there is an interesting story behind that. Or maybe Outcast and the short era of voxel games?

I'm really keen to know who will show up next week.

Hey, Ralph Baer! Pride of Manchester (new hampshire, US) - the Odyssey was conceived not 20 minutes from where I live.

I love seeing Baer interviews/stories. Well done!
