My Max's board is now online! I don't know why it goes so damn slow. Maybe because using an old version of telnetd.device, (v.1.91). If anyone have an newer version, please upload it to the zone . Or could it be a settting in my tcp/ip stack?..Using I'm MiamiDX.

Anyway, the bbs has some bugs (read on my site), but mostly everything worked, including filetransfers (if your client support it).

ps. All new users got download access at once, and you not need to fill out 10.000 questions before granted access.

Maxs bbs system was written by an Aussie named Anthony Barret who used to run a bbs system In Australia called Maxs bbs which was a good bbs system .. also was good friends with the co-sysop edward Lawford who did most of the bbs sytems add on features.Talk about bringing back old memories ....

p.s. he also used to charge a fee for this software but then he decided shareware was easier as someone had pirated his original copyright version of the software.

I think the BBS revival thing is a great idea and would definately get a good deal of support from the nostalgic amongst us and those who never actually caught the BBS scene first time around. Methanoid has a point when he mentions the Z modem transfer problem tho.

Hell, the whole thing has my vote anyway!

mTelnet is free and supports Z-Modem... I'm gonna get my BBS back up I think...

Actually I have the BBS backed up on a CD somewhere, I might get it up and running for a few screenshots

hi bippy its me lols i actualy fired up the bbs today was fun even had some of the old bbs adverts and fluffynet messages etc
rem i ran skullmonkey that took over whq from for fluffy net before the net took over though i have had maxs running on winuae and telnet just mainly to test stuff and for nostaglia
and i still have the source code from colin wlsons aka phes stuff that he sent me when he closed mas super cd etc

telnetd device works fine withj maxs use it myself with maxs

not sure if this right area but as its maxsa i suppose is it is . ok i tried my board on winua all works fine cept wun i local upload a mp3 using max pro 2.o with steve clacks magic file
for some reason when it comes to extract the mp3 id it wont do it on some mp3s m and wont let me add it manualy either i think this is due to id3 etc tags any one fancy writing updated script to fix this asd tbh its ben sucjh a long time since i used the bbs and i want to try get things running smoothely as fast as poss though i could just disable mp3s ... some mp3s it does work with so im guesing the mp3info file max used is now well out of date any one have a new updated scripts pease (
who knows we may even be able to get fluffynet up n running again shoukd some clever person mae a way to telnet the nodes rather than dial

i have the orig unpack scripts maybe some one would likke to update them to inc the new file id tags ect id ask steve but i not seen him around in yrs or kryten

I found Max's was never as enjoyable to use as /X, but it was a nice piece of software. There was a local pirate board called BAD BBS which ran Max's, it had no ratios and new stuff. Very good BBS.

doing welll mqate i actualy booted maxs back up and managed toget telnet working only prob i founf with magic file is mp3 some it wont take id tag and keeps repeating enter diz maybe if i can fix thaqt ill let ya telnet in some time as its still as was all tjhose yrs ago iinc all the fluffy set up lol lha etc works fine maybe a prib with mp3 id3 tagsd not quits sure as i forgot how iactualy set it to do the mp3 in the first place lol hack n slash and bull rpg work fine though and the cd door seems to lol also dug out some of phes and krytm#ns old source code mqaax super cd etc even the file base ... even still have the users etc and bbs addss from other bbs damn hard to rem all the stuff ewhere stuff went etc but its coming bk slowly

i may even still have all the fluffy net messages though inm sure i purged that part . i know looking through the bbs i found some rare files lol would be nice to contact all the old fluffy guys again and see what they all up to
and daniel garnet ho wrote version of bull rpg for maxs cos i pestrererd him bu never did finish it so i cdould kill the evil wizard at end ll

http://syncterm.bbsdev.net is the best client for win/lnx/osx in my opinion. Plus, I have a telnet bbs online...montereybbs.com (currently the domain is f*d up) also at montereybbs.ath.cx - Check it out for latest daydream (pc, not amiga version)

Hmmm so BBS still active? Is it worth logging on to them now, with the age of FTP/easy access to WWW for files?

It all depends on what you want. BBS message nets are fun, so are bbs door games, and a lot of people are using bbses nowadays through ssh to trade files securely, with secure user accounts, etc.
