Thumbs up HOL opening !

Hello to all Amiga addicts in the world,

Here we go, after more than one year of hard work, the Hall Of Light gates will be opened tomorrow night - the Saturday 14 december 2002.

Last month, we were only speaking about one exclusive preview during our annual IRC meeting, but finally we don't think it's human to let you see it only for a few hours and then close back the doors
This earlier release have a cost, so please don't yell to much cause some features are not yet available, missing ones and new ideas will be implemented during the following months. (Reviews system, Advanced WHDload datas, charts...)
Also please remember that a lot of datas are still waiting to be converted into the HOL format (games informations, alternative & conversion screenshots...) One online log system will show you the live updates of the database.

Anyway it's just a small issue, the php/sql engine is now finished and the search engine have already proved his power. A lot of informations are already there and regular updates & fixes will be present to offer our community one of the most advanced amiga commercial games databases.

Enjoy the trip,
The HOL Team :: RCK / CodyJarrett / Twistin' Ghost / Walker / Codetapper / DrBong ::

Yep, I agree, Konrad. This is a very good news!
I thought HOL project was like the Gamebase64...
Fortunately, I'm wrong... This could be a nice Xmas gift for all the EAB members!

Unfortunately I can't be there for the opening, however I wish you guys the best of luck. I am certainly looking forward to seeing it!

Not sure how your system will work (I guess something better discussed later), but would it be okay to link to the game entries directly from the C.A.P.S. site's game "release info" pages?

Just something like:

Game Name: Robotron
Release Number: xx
(our info on the game)
(disk/protection information etc)
(gameinfo.xml)
HOL Entry: Robotron

??

No problem if not - just thought it would be a nice "feature", especially if you guys have more about a game that we do (and i know that you do!)

I don't think advertising is needed if bandwidth is to be saved..

And VG Network is a piece of shite. I would be more comfortable if nothing of abîme.net is linked over that horrid place. Besides, it's for lameulaters, and this is something for the whole Amiga community methinks.

Hmmm, didn't visit vg-network for a long time. But I visited it regularly a year ago. Back then it was a cool emulation related page.

Now I stick with www.retrogames.com .

>> not yet, cause:
- the DB data is not finished yet and we have a lot more idea to improve it.
- I'm not sure my server will be able to deliver enough power for the vg-network or retrogames regular (thousand & thousand of ppl are there)

@All:
Just considered this opening as a nice christmas gift for you: the EAB active amiga community! (worldwide annouce will comes later)
