commodore a570
I watched an interview of david pleasance explainnig explaining how the Amiga
600 launch killed the 500 sales though it was commodre best sellers at the time. I wonder if thid marketing decision didn't kill the oportunities the A570 offered for the 500 future as it could have give it a new breath with cd rom capabilities. |

I would really loved an A570; the (then) difficulty in copying CD games would have given more companies room to cerate interesting stuff - pity i had an 1.2 A500 and that means not compatible

Even with a high launching price it would have come down within 6 month and would have extend the 500 life.

It wouldn't. The A500 was successful because it was a unified platform. The games publishers didn't want several kinds of A500, and the consumers wanted the A1200.

The A500 was an amazing machine and Commodore was always the weakest link. The Amiga 500 Plus and A600 should never of happened. If anything commodore should of just improved the A500 to 1MB as time moved on and still offered it at a competing price.
Then they should of launched the A1200 as a direct replacement. This way people who bought the A500 Plus would not of felt anywhere near as cheated as they did. Amiga was never the problem, it was always the so called educated suit wearing morons at Commodore! Because of these idiots, we were all deprived of the A5000! The A570 came way too late and some are still unsure why Commodore released it. It was speculated that there was still a substantial amount of A500 users, that may of wanted to utilize CDTV software. |

I rather think they should have update the 500 with mega CD like hardware which include 3d and scrolling enhanced capabilities, skip the 1200 and cd 32 launch and instead Launch a real new generation amiga capable of competing with the pc mid 90's pc... That would of been an OK idea but I disagree. The A1200 is probably the best of all the Amiga computers.<Not including any of the big box units in this conclusion.
If anything, maybe AGA should of been AAA? |
