AHX, THX instruments settings

i would like to have some try with AHX for fun but i never made any synthetic tune.

i look at the documentation but perhaps its well explain for ppl familiar to synthetic instrument (or i'm a bit dumb) but i doesn't understand very well how to set an instruments.

i'm thinking to use already existing instruments and modify them but i would prefer to made them myself so... here is my question does anybody know a tutorial or something like this that explain how to set AHX instruments ?

Yeah if you never had any sort of contact with synthesis it will take you a bit ammount oftime with trial and error until you get it right.

Starting up with an already made instrument IS recommendable, after all, you are starting up.

There is no tutorial and I am not very didactic, but the most important thing you need to get going in AHX before pulling a sound is getting the ENVELOPE right.
This is the famous ADSR environment (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release).

Once you set those you should get sound. now play with the otehr parameters until it sounds like yo uwant it. If you can't be arsed to read on synthesis best thing you can do is experiment.

My recommendaton is that you open an already made instrument and listen teh differences when you tweak teh different parameters. Most didactic way there is.

i would say take a look at the perfomance editor thing, try loading up a kickdrum, a snare, an arpsynth etc etc. Its one of the most important settings when it comes to creating percussionstyle sounds, or quick c64ish arpeggios...

Today i got a quick look on some mods and try to modify instruments... i remember now having already got the mood to do some AHX tunes for the fun in the past and... forget about it... it definitively doesn't seems too easy compared to "pure samples", more when you look at some synthetic samples that are themselves a little melody (nice feature btw). Anyway perhaps i got a too quick look on it, i hope i'll find more motivation to try harder and at least do 1 music (even a protracker to AHX conversion)

That's what us musicians call an "arpeggio"

It realy isn't THAT hard but I can understand your initial frustration. It really is NOT a program you can grab right away and bang sounds from. You have to invest some time in it.
