Help with Answers about AROS
Hi All,
I having been back to the Commodore 64 scene for a few years. I am starting to get back into the Amiga scene. Anyway, I loved my Amiga games such as Eye of the Beholder, Flashback, etc... I have the disks for some of them still. The questions I have are with AROS. I was thinking of installing it on my machine. However, can it play kikstart 1.3 games? I remember having a keyboard switch in my Amiga 2500 that would switch between kikstart 1.3 and 2.04. And to play some of the games, I had to switch back to 1.3. Also, does it recognize a floppy. Basically, if I had AROS (linux Live distro) installed and installed a game, could I play it? Finally, can AROS mounst ADF files as floppies so I can play Eye of the Beholder again? |

Nothing of that. AROS is an operating system, not a hardware emulator. The games you like to play need the original Amiga hardware. They cannot be made to run on another machine without a hardware emulator.
You can use WinUAE to play these games on a Windows PC or E-UAE for Linux. AROS has nothing to do with this. AROS for x86 is not compatible to existing Amiga software. |

You can install Aros to a usb stick/Drive and use the Amiga emulator Janus to play adf's.
You can also add Amiga formated partitions to the stick/drive and install Workbench to the partitions. You will also need a kickstart.rom to use Janus. |

Although I do think there's a project (called Janus UAE) that aims to make a seamless integration with emulated 68k software (similar to the concept of Parallels on the Mac). No idea how it would work with full-screen software like games that bang the hardware, nor do I have any idea how far along the project is.

Anyway, Aros m68k is used as an experimental Kickstart substitute in the latest WinUAE betas.
