Dir Opus 4.17 pre21 - grey blocks in menus
Hi
I've installed Dir Opus 4.17 pre 21 on Workbench 3.1.4 and I'm getting grey text blocks under Project and Function menus. V4.16 worked fine so I could back to using that but before I did I wanted to see if anyone else had come across a similar issue. Thanks John |

No, I don't have any problems here with 4.17pre21.
But 4.17pre21 is only an update to the full version 4.16 and you have to copy the newer files over the ones from 4.16 in the drawers c, libs, modules and s. - 4.17.pre21 should not be used stand alone without 4.16. |

Thanks Peter. I installed it over 4.16. It's not a big deal as I know what each menu item is so the program is still configurable and useable. One other oddity is that it doesn't appear to be able to create an .icon file when creating new directories. Says:
"An error occured adding an icon to 'Test' DOS error code 205 - object not found" One other question while you're hear. I've loaded your latest icon. library and workbench.library into fast ram using RemApollo. Are Fblit and Ftext still needed / recommend when using Kickstart / Workbench 3.1.4? If yes where should they be inserted in the startup-sequence? |

Yes, FBlit is still required for blitting icons from FastMem as long as you don't have P96 or CGX installed. I start FBlit usually after IPrefs, but make sure that you have the ENVARC:FBlit.cfg for OS 3.5+ installed when using 3.1.4, not the FBlit.cfg for 3.1. Sorry I have no experience with FText. What for? WinUAE is lightning fast. |

Thanks. The DOpus4 libraries are the correct version. I'll try a fresh installation.
Sorted out Fbit and Ftext this is for use on a real A1200. The FText recommendation came from here: https://grimore.org/amiga/os3.9/kick..._patches_guide |

I know now why I never used FText in the past, because a similar patch was already included in SystemPatch. But I have disabled SystemPatch since I updated my OS 3.9 with some parts of 3.1.4 and didn't check yet whether FText would make sense now or not. I'm still not done with the 3.1.4 updating over 3.9. Only the new kickstart, SetPatch, workbench.library, LoadWB and rexxsyslib.library are installed at the moment. Maybe, that's why I don't have problems with DOpus 4.17pre21?
You could also try to watch what happens or may fail with SnoopDos when you start DOpus4. Did you make an Assign DOpus: <your DOpus installation path> ? Last edited by PeterK; 21 October 2018 at 17:07. |

That's a good question, because DOpus4 doesn't like spaces in the file paths. I've renamed "Ram Disk:" into "RamDisk:" to avoid these problems.
@AMIGASYSTEM OT: Did you get AfA_OS to work with the 3.1.4 update? |

No, because I do not agree with the distribution procedure (this will create another fractured fri the few remaining amighists), I quit investing on Amiga 25 years ago, I spent a lot of money on Amiga, i bought a 4000/060, two A1200/040/030, two A600HD, one A500/Plus/Switch KS 1.3, two A500, two CD32 one with HD and SX32 now closed a storage room for 25 years.
In my opinion 3.1.4 had to be distributed free "for all" with donation to developers, buying just to test for the moment is not worth it because nobody tested compatibility with with AfA-OS, and then i would not want to lose all the and then i would not want to lose all the native 0S3.9 applications i use on my AfA-OS Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 21 October 2018 at 18:03. |

PeterK it concerns your library at the time I have disabled on AfA-OS because there are two problems , shame because it allowed me from Dopus4 to see perfectly any icons, if one day you will have time to point out the two problems.
