Nah, you should be arming the native wildlife so they can defend themselves

Overlord

It is loud, it is stylish, it is exhilarating, it is gory, it is nonsensical, it is really, really cool. It is Castle Wolfenstein: the movie. And boy did I have a good time! Expect epic WW2 war scenes and Nazi zombie goodness. More of the former, less of the latter. As I said its gory, but I had hoped for a little more of the good stuff.

But do see in the cinema, this is a made for cinema movie. See it on a regular TV and see this movie just turn into something ordinary. But see it on the biggest screen available with the loudest most 3D sound system attached to it and have a really good two hours of your life.

Movie score: 6.5
Cinema experience: 10/10

Popcorn entertainment in its purest form, today I remembered why I used to go to the cinema.

Race to Witch Mountain (2009)

Another family movie, not half bad as they tend to be. It is classic, taxi driver is placed in wired situation by mare incident on being at wrong time at wrong place (fifth element) and adventure beings when he does not like to turn in passengers to DOD folks. Few good jokes here and there, funny parts about nut convention, some fun for kids. Worth watching if you have kids around and there is nothing better on TV.

The Incredibles 2. I love the Incredibles, so there was no chance that this movie was going to appeal to me as much. Regardless, its a good Pixar movie. I would have liked a little more humor here and there, but the Incredibles is more about trying to be a true action adventure movie and not a cartoon. The sequel again succeeds there delivering animated characters that have more on screen presence and emotion behind them than you will see in many a live action movie. Stunning work.

BUT! There is always a but. What it doesn't have is a sequel to Syndrome, my favorite animated baddy of all time. The baddy in this movie is at best lackluster; really lame motivations and poses almost no threat at all. And as I believe that an action movie is only as strong as its villain... the movie loses some quality and rewatchability there.

So yeah. Good. But I long back to the days where Pixar consistently delivered great movies. Basically the days where they tried to be original :/

I really think that EDNA needs her own spinoff movie

I think that would become another Minions. In moderation, cute as heck and funny. Fill an entire movie with it and it starts to lose its flavor.

But the premise would be how EDNA came up with the NO CAPES thing as she was all about CAPES to begin with until all the INCREDIBLES that she initially created the suits for lost their lives

So yeah it would be a Montage type of movie

Unfortunately, it seems to me that we can say that these days are over. There are still sometimes pearls like "Inside Out" but since Disney bought Pixar, we are too much served n°2, 3, 4, etc. of films that have been pearls of originality. I do not forget that Pixar used to say, in the beginning, that there would never be any follow up to any of their movies (Toy Story excepted).
It's sad and the same phenomenon happens with the "LucasFilm" 's movies (Star Wars franchise), and probably will happen with the "Marvel" 's movies (especially since Stan Lee has died recently).
It's not good when so many franchises are under the same roof...

Movie also sheds light on bureaucracy and slow and ineffective justice.

What makes this movie more interesting, swearing in Irish dialect... worth watching. Pierce Brosnan aged well, and delivers good performance, just as you could excpect from seasoned actor. It is almost hard to recognize him, specially since just day later I saw another movie with him that I will cover next.

Thanks for the tip. Did not know that Jackie Chan has played another drama movie.
If you didn't see "Shinjuku Incident", give it a try. It's a good one

Yeah well, franchises are not exactly the highlight of cinema anyway. Disney buys up a lot of money in the form of movie franchises which are a means to not be bored for a while, they're not getting movies that were making any kind of impact anymore before the change of ownership. This is especially true for Star Wars, it definitely got better post-Disney.

You can say the same for Marvel as well.

Better post-Disney? Really?
When I am home, I will double-read your post. Maybe I missunderstood it.

Yes, I do X-Men and Spiderman started the superhero craze. Iron Man was a breath of fresh air that started the whole shared universe craze that everyone is completely failing to duplicate, everything else that was produced under the Marvel brand were just fun movies that don't really do anything new but are not boring in the slightest.

@malko yes, better. Than the prequels. You know, that trilogy of mildly entertaining CGI-fests that have been shat on for over a decade now because they had the audacity to contain Jar Jar Binks and Haiden Christensen.

Speaking of CGI fests, I put up Rampage expecting it to be a real dumpster fire - I was in the mood for a bad movie.

But it wasn't, as far as cliche CGI action vehicles with giant monsters goes, this is one of the better movies. I'm not going to say it is the best game adaptation as for that the source game is just too simplistic. But still... this IS a Rampage movie, no doubt about it. The three giant monsters are there, the retarded army is there, the giant buildings being demolished are there.

If you're looking for stupid fun, this is worth a watch.

Conspiracy Theory (1997)

It is just hard to believe that this is over 20 year old movie. I remember watching it in movie theater back then, and it is still well made movie, with good selection of actors (Gibson, Roberts and Stewart) and good director behind it (Richard Donner, director behind Superman and Lethal Weapon franchise, and written by Brian Helgeland, writter behind Paycheck and Mystic River)
What happens if mad man's conspiracy theories start to turn true... whole movie take you for a ride where you can't know who to believe.

Tomb Raider (2018)

At first, as always when we are talking about game conversion into big screen, I am always reserved and reminded of how bad it can go (Wing Commander) and even Tomb Rider movies with Angelina Jolie, but to my big surprise, this was far better experience and at some point it reminded me more of Uncharted game series (specially part with airplane) than Tomb Raider.

I saw Alicia Vikander (Ex-Machina and last Jason Borne) grow into Lara Croft and by end of the movie wanting to see more of it. Intro part, bit slow, it was well made and laid good base for character itself. Let's not forget Walton Goggins as good villain - every movie need one like that.
Another reason this was far better movie than previous Tomb Raider movies - there is no super natural elements into it, and just part where story told and story itself are 2 different things was really well made and made movie more interesting, imho.
7.5 / 10

8 might be a bit over rich for this movie, but shitty 6.4 on imdb really is not fitting this movie either. While sometimes movie just get bad grade for no good reason, following movie really deserves bad grade...

Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)

This movie is clear example what happens if you make grand movie and make it bit too much grand... you have CGI until it becomes shitty, some physics that don't make any sense and whole experience is missing good humor that at least first 2 movies had. This franchise should have been killed after 3rd movie (and probably sooner) and in some way this prolonged existence is just what happens when you have movie on life support...

Saw it only because it was free on Amazon Prime, and because my boy wanted to see it. Not even Sir Anthony Hopkins nor Laura Haddock were able to fix this shipwreck.

4 / 10

Let me explain the joke to you as you are drawing very strange conclusions here.

The name of the movie is: Tomb Raider
You write: Tomb Rider. Rider, not raider. Missing an A.

"riding" is a term often used in a sexual context.

... hence, Tomb Rider = movie.

Just saw preview for Glass (2019)

Seems Shyamalan is connecting his movies together.

Anyone else interested?

Not sure if dumb, dyslexia or just still not talking English... probably D - all of the above.

Zombieland (2009)

Finally managed to see Zombieland, just in time before they release second part next year. What to say except, this was epic zombie smash movie, and just funny as hell.

Some good rules to follow in case of zombie emergency, including Cardio (SR#1) and Don't be a hero (SR#4). Nicely done and Woody Harrelson at his best...

Seems that next part will continue 10 years after first movie.
