Refresh rates

Hi all

My LCD monitor has a refresh rate of 60 Hz. But most amiga games and demos was programmed at a 50 Hz refresh rate.

So, when I choose a 60 Hz rate in WinUAE, scrollings are smooth but music is accelerated. And when I choose a 50 Hz, music is good but scrolls aren't smooth any more. All of that because demos and games are synchronized with screen refresh rate.

Is there a way to have a 60 Hz refresh rate for animations and a 50 Hz for music, in order to have all timings corrects ? Or a way to force another method of timing ? I can't change the rate of my monitor, I hate LCD technology for that.

Thanks in advance

I think all you can do is find an LCD monitor that accepts 50Hz (or 100Hz). Sorry

Wouldn't turning the vertical synchro off in your graph drivers config menu, help?

Silly me, it's the vertical synchro I mean...

Your options are (assuming by smooth scrolling you mean vsynced & perfectly smooth graphics)....

1) Force your LCD into 50Hz by using the graphics card setup or powerstrip, then cross your fingers because this probably won't work. This does work on my screen but I think I'm lucky with that. You could try 100Hz as well but check your monitor specs.

2) Force your LCD into 56Hz (which is more likely to work) and accept the too fast gameplay/sound.

3) Buy an LCD tv and use that. Not sure about them accepting PC signals at 50Hz to be honest but they work well with real Amigas. (Numerous threads on this)

4) Use a CRT or TV.

Good luck
